Should I go with the RX 470 4gb or 8gb aftermarket models?

Hello, Should I go with the RX 470 4gb or 8gb aftermarket models and if so what aftermarket variant is the best?

 

 

This upgrade will only be temporary for 2 years since by then I will buy a new PC.

 

So will 4gb of Vram be good enough or should I go for 8gb of Vram?

 

My budget is under $220 for a graphics card.

 

And a $60 budget for a power supply

 

I will just use this GPU for 2 years then I'm gonna plan on a full PC upgrade.

 

Current rig:

 

CPU: i5-4670

GPU: GTX 650 Ti 2gb

Motherboard:G1.Sniper B5

RAM: 16gb DDR3 G.Skill

2 years is a decently long time.. I'd squeeze for the 8GB.

If you are willing to turn down details, Anti-Aliasing, I think a 4gb RX 470 could last for those 2 years. I read an article that a GTX 970 4gb will last maybe for 2-3 years and their performances is comparable.

I'd sink more into a better PSU VS the GPU, like an EVGA G2 550W Gold Plus for $80.00. Then spend $200.00 or less on a RX 470 or GTX 1050Ti 4GB in either. Here's a few good RX 470 4GB options for that or less.

It's really good for FPS games. Although the ergonomics is arguable, it works for me, although it is a little on the small side. Could work for fingertip/claw, but not palm for me. I haven't ranked up much in CS:GO but i can feel my aim is really improving. Also try to find an EC2-A on sale. Or another option is a deathadder chroma since it has more "fine tuning" application while the EC2-A is driverless. One of the biggest drawbacks to the EC2-A in my opnion.

If you are even considering a 4gb 470, why not just go for a 4gb 480?

Well, if you're sticking with 1080p, go for the RX470 4gb.

using a 4gb 470 rx sapphire oc (blower one ) while i wait for the 1080ti (if it doesnt release by then i can get my hands on a titan if they are ever available here) it maxes bf1 60fps 2k and does so in other games 4gb 470rx seems a sweet spot in bang fore buck and i love it. gonna chuck the card in my media centre when i upgrade and just let the bro use it for gaming

There is no reason whatsoever for a single 470 8GB to be sold. Ever.

 

If the 4GB isn't enough, then you need a 480, especially given how marginal the price difference is.
