Manufacturers roll out firmware updates for GTX 1070 due to memory issue

Techicolors

I can confirm that I have memory overclocking issues on the Micron chips. I could only get +125MHz overclock when all of my friends with Samsung chips have been getting +500MHz or more. Unfortunately, Zotac hasn't pushed an update yet.

My build:

i7-6800k @ 4.32GHz

ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7

G.Skill Rampage V 4x8GB DDR4-2800MHz @ 2916MHz

Zotac 1070 AMP Extreme @ 2100MHz

Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 NVME SSD

Samsung 850 Evo 1TB SSD

EVGA 750W 80+ Gold

NZXT Kraken X61 CPU Cooler

NZXT Hue+

Corsair 750D Airflow Edition

With the updated Micron firmware, will the Micron chip cards be as good at overclocking as the Samsung chips?

I wonder if having the Samsung chip can be a useful advertising point, when it comes time to sell the GPU.

Can't be bothered to OC my GPU, so the problem isn't affecting me.  According to GPU-Z my MSI 1070 (Gaming X 8G) does have the Micron chips though.

If I run into problems, I'll probably do the update.

They should be as good as the Samsung chips. It just seems that the firmware used for the memory was optimized for the Samsung and not Micron.
