Introducing a photography-first smartphone that’s about more than just megapixels.

Stories are made in a moment – always be ready to create yours.

As anticipated by many it's a camera-centric phone with some mediocre smart phone specs.  I'm personally not interested, the camera isn't a key factor in my preference for a smartphone.  Even if it were, I don't see this phone outshining other current flagships like the Google Pixel or iPhone 7.

Specs look ok, I have not clue though how good that CPU is. Lets just hope for the best.

"ok" may be the perfect description, they're just ok.  This thing better have a pretty low price tag if Kodak doesn't want this thing to completely flop.

I've also never heard of the Helio X-20.

x20 is equivalent to a Snap 620, meaning this is a low/mid end chipset, this will no where near compare to a snap 820/821

rip I misread the type of chipset, actually its pretty up there with the 820/and the exy 8890 lmao, i looked up the x10 by accident

That's good to hear, so they have to make sure the camera is the best to make this a hit. also pricing it very competitively would help a ton.

Laptop:

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

The bottom bump might feel right in the hand but definitively looks stupid: almost as if this was the digital camera that never was and you're supposed to load AA batteries in there.

Specs wise it's OK, I'm not a flagship hunter anyway... that's too much money to spend on a phone IMO. Anyway, main problem with this phone for me is the massive sticking out lens and lip on the bottom of the phone, I'd prefer it to be that much thicker if needs be, and then the phone back can be level. I also seriously doubt the flash is in a good position, to me it looks like it might lead to the picture getting some kind of glare from the LEDs when using the flash, but could be wrong... I'm not that into photography.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

Nah ah. The camera was incredible, but the OS and specs let it down. It was just soooo slow by the time you'd taken a picture all the samsungs and iPhones had already taken it and shared it to social media, where quality don't matter anyway.

Windows 10 mobile OS is pretty good though. While it lacks a few apps that you can find on Android, it's certainly damn good if you don't care about those. To make up for those missing apps, there's a few apps that are very good and better than what you'd find on Android. The Map app is certainly a hell of a lot better than Google Map or Apple Map. As for the speed, I don't know about that. I can personally take a picture with my Lumia 635 at about the same speed as a friend who has a LG G3 phone.

Agree that 925 was awesome. Unfortunately with the 1020 they changed nothing except the camera. While the processing power could handle the 9MP of the 920/925, it really struggled with the jump to 41MP.

The 1020 is stuck on Windows 8.1 - Microsoft blatantly lied about "every windows 8 phone can be upgraded to 10".

Agreed there have been some real gem apps on Windows Phone, but a handful is not enough.

Can't it be forcefully upgraded to Windows 10 by using the Windows Insider app found in the Store? My Lumia 635 with 512MB of RAM officially cannot be upgraded to Windows 10, but it still works perfectly well. Though I had to get rid of Windows 8.1 Cyan and get 8.1 Denim instead first which was somewhat of a pain in the butt, but relatively easy to do. Mainly had to change a registry component and the phone downloaded and installed Denim by itself, after which I got the Insider app and upgraded to Windows 10.

Or, if you care about camera quality you could buy a cheaper phone and an entry level mirrorless.
