Pentium G630 + Dell 660 (0XFWHV)

Go to solution Solved by zanthros,

If the problem still persists and you really want to use an add in card the solution might be to use a different processor. I am not sure that the board will support it but the i5-2380P has no IGP in it and it is a sandy bridge processor. Read this : Sandy bridge with no graphics  Like I said IT may not work on your motherboard as it is not a processor that was available for the Dell 660, so do it at your own risk. I say that cause you will be out the $$$ spent on the try. I have done worse and came out better.

Hello guys!

I have a Pentium G630, a Dell 660 (0xfwhv) mini-itx motherboard, a Palit GT210 low profile/small form factor graphics card, and two (2) sticks of DDR3 1066mhz ram...all of which are inside a slim case I have salvaged from the dumpster.

My question.....how do I disable the onboard graphics? I can't seem to find the options in the BIOS as to how I can disable the igfx.

I know that once a graphics card is installed, it is automatically being recognized & used by the system. However, I would like a dedicated graphics card for my video output.

Would love to hear from you guys.

Paul

Are you having a problem with the card being recognized by the system? It is not always automatic. Have you given it a try?

Did I help you to fix your problem or at least did offer somewhat valuable advice? Consider giving my post a "informative" or "thumbs up".

No, not really. It has been running fine for now. Though I am having issues with bluestacks2 as it detects the built in graphics instead of the GPU.

As far as I know of there is no way to turn off the onboard card in the bios. That is what comes in the Dell. complete control of the system with little options to change things. You can however disable the onboard in the device manager. Give it a try........

Somewhat correct, it is dependant on the BIOS Revision/Version which is running - However it should be automatically detecting which video output to use

So you are saying that a later bios on the system will enable the OP to disable the onboard video in the BIOS?

The only version that is shown on the dell site for the system is the A11 version which may be the original one it came with as no others are listed and it is dated Nov. 19 2013

Correct

Depending on the BIOS Version which is running you may/may not the advanced tab.

Advanced Menu > Chipset > Southbridge Config/Settings

From there, you should have something along the lines of Primary Graphics adapter / Main Graphics Adapter

The A11 revision may/may not have it, can't flash a machine at the moment to try it out

I have tried uninstalling the driver and also disabled the Intel Graphics to no avail. It just re-installs itself every time the PC boots. It is still detected while disabled....I'm not sure why.

Try the bios advanced tab is it is listed first. If not, boot into the OS and just disable the Intel graphics. Do not take out the driver.

Thanks!

By the way, I tried to install that BIOS update to no avail. It said "The system is different between current system and ROM file."

maybe because I was running windows 10 x64?

Will try to find a different processor, depending on the availability. I might buy used processors, I don't plan on spending too much on this anyway.
