Like there isn't any other way to obtain a picture of it or the screen itself. Stupid apple this does nothing

To be honest, Microsoft has done the same with some apps on windows 10, making it hard to screen record the Netflix app and such to my experience.  This is nothing new and It does not surprise me that apple is doing the same.  It would be more than likely that the owners of the content are pushing for more anti-piracy techniques which puts pressure on the companies who offer their services, i.e netflix, as such they would be putting pressure on apple and other companies to make it harder to pirate and use such content for reasons other than those agreed upon in the terms and conditions.

It prevents high quality rips of the content.

 

That's like the difference between a Blu-Ray Rip of a movie, and a Cam recording. You're talking about the equivalent of a "Cam recording" - which is comparatively a lot lower quality.

Could do, but jailbreaking is something of a last resort, and can also introduce security risks sometimes. A normal user - who wouldn't even know what the term "jailbreak" means - should never have to jailbreak an iOS device to get useful normal functionality out of it.

There are bank apps out there for example that block screenshots (when you try it just gives a message it failed).

It makes it harder for the user to take screenshots of things they shouldn't be. Just because you can get passed it doesn't mean it's completely useless. It's why companies still use DRM that's crackable. People who do some searching or who have access to certain tools can crack it but you don't want every person who buys a copy to be able to just simply freely copy it to a USB and give it to their friend without any obstacles.
