Cheapest 64-bit rackmount servers

Out of pure curiosity, what are the cheapest 64-bit rackmount servers out there that can be used as a 4+ SATA drive (not SAS drive) NAS?

 

Really this is just for pure curiosity (and to pop my rackmount cherry a bit more and familiarize myself with older bits, if you will).

depending on luck and local availability of datacenters chucking out their garbage, you may be set for $20 :P

You might want to checkout /r/homelab on Reddit to see what they recommend over there.

Dell R610/R710's are the goto homelab servers these days, but they're definitely not the cheapest out there.

I think most people settle on them since they're running DDR3 and don't gobble up power like their older DDR2 versions did.

Except for the fact that they chug power if you care about that.
