New router not being able to connect to Internet /modem

bladeguardian

I recently bought a Dlink AC 750 dual band router that I cannot seem to connect to my modem (a Cisco DPC3825)

I plugged the router into my modem, after a while both the power and internet connection lights turn on in the router Try to connect to internet didn't work

Reset modem and router, now going through the router settings with a computer connected via ethernet going through internet connection type (it auto detects a DHCP, which my modem is in). Get to the last step of it detecting internet, says no internet detected

I have restarted several times both the modem and router, the same thing happens each time

The thing I haven't been able to try is that bridge mode on my modem, because my ISP won't allow it unless I call them But I don't think this would affect it? There would be a double NAT problem AFAIK but not unable to connect to internet

More info: My modem is a modem router combo with wireless network which is on atm as I try to connect the nee router

What other things should I try?

have you gone into your routers setting by typing in the ip in the search bar like 192.168.1.1 or something like that and checked its settings and also make sure a firewall is not blocking internet access

Too troubleshoot try plugging your computer directly into your modem.

Check that you get an:

IP

DNS Server(s)

Gateway IP

Let me know what you get.

I have, I've checked both the modem settings and the router settings

Nothing seems to be blocking it

So you connected to the modem before, did you get internet?

What's your internal IP address?

What's the DNS you get?

What's the Gateway it gives you?

Can you ping the Modem's internal address while plugged into the router?

I bet you either need to set your modem in passthrough mode OR set your D-LINK to "switch" mode. e.g. disable firewall/dhcp

I got it to work! It's just as you said, disabling the dhcp and uncp and setting it up with a static ip address to be used as a wap totally works
