whatever IPC changes occurred between Maxwell and Pascal

I'm pretty sure people have confirmed how Pascal basically has the same IPC Maxwell...so it's only the higher clocks that's going to help it to be faster...hmmmmm...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

While the smaller node helps it consume a lot less power.

Yah Yah, I know ;) (just saying how there is no IPC increase, just less power consumption and higher clocks).

On a side note, I don't think the RX460 is going to do very well against the 1050ti...maybe the 1050 but the 1050ti should only be like $150~ (if we consider the MSRP for the 3GB 1060) meaning the 4GB cards are gonna be up against them...

I guess the clocks are so low because these cards will run just from PCI-e? May be power limited at higher clocks. Unless the custom ones will have 6-pin.

I would say this. GTX 1050 will be better version of GTX 950, with better perfomance, lower power draw, and better temperature. So let me say this, for 149$ last year you could get GTX 950, now for possibly ~120$ you can get better perfomance with 1050. I don't get why people are complaining about this.

Also we have seen that in Pascal, if card has less cuda cores, or less amount of "Spec Numbers" It doesn't mean sh#t(In comparison with Maxwell). Check GTX 1060 vs GTX 980, Spec wise GTX 980 should just destroy 1060, however FPS numbers are most of the times same.

1050 Ti will sit on R9 380X Power, with 4GB VRAM It will be great for 1080p High setting 60fps gaming. Those who don't follow lower end market scene, yes GTX 950 is very capable card, It can play any AAA game on acceptable 1080p settings(Med-high) with lovely 60fps.

In comparison of Maxwell here are my thoughts.

GTX 1050 = ~GTX 960

GTX 1050 Ti = GTX 960 + ??%

I say someone needs to make a 1050ti with additional power to the board but make it so that it does work without it but won't be as fast. just make it a 6pin connector and  you set to go. If it's a cheap ass card and faster than a 960 then we have a killer card for console killer pc. If you can do 1080p 60fps minimum with hight to ultra settings that will be a great card then for a HTPC.

In reality, the 460 isn't meant to compete with the 1050/Ti, imo it has to be beat a 470

Why? The 1060 3GB is that price bracket, honestly the 470 is rather pointless since the 4GB 480 exists

Because In DX11 GTX 950 is faster than RX 460 and lol I seriosuly doubt 1050 will compete with RX 460, because that would be downgrade.

Well based on the core speeds and number of cores it isn't going to be a downgrade, not a very large upgrade but surely not a downgrade since the core speeds went up so much.

So it's probably going to sit fairly close to the 950 but with the 750 TDP. It's a healthy improvement but pretty meh.

I am surprised they are going with fucking 4 tiers here: 1050, 1050ti 1060 3gb and 1060 6gb. It seems so fucking unnecessary and against their usual strategy of keeping it simple.

I don't think so. The $100 GTX 1050 has less CUDA than a 950 while not being that big of a clockspeed jump.

I don't have a source at hand, but I remember hearing that clock for clock, Pascal was the same or slightly worse than Maxwell.

Nvidia has a tendency to do weird shit with their VRAM amounts. 3.5GB on the 970 while there were full 4GB 960s out there. And this.

It was still 4gb on the 970 (they just forgot how to design a card.)

Although I don't mind. Im getting a check in the mail for $60 pretty soon.

On the other hand thanks to my typo people might finally get some fucking use out of those 1500 watt PSUs

So lets use some logic here.

http://hwbench.com/vgas/geforce-gtx-1060-vs-geforce-gtx-980

GTX 1060 is ~10% faster, ~10% slower, or same in most of the games compared to GTX 980.

GTX 980 specs are way above compared to 1060, Its just 1060 has more Core Clock and Memory Speed.

GTX 1060: 1280 Cuda Cores, 80 TMU, 10 CU,

GTX 980: 2048 Cuda Cores, 128 TMU,  16 CU.

So If 1050 Ti and 950 have same amount of Cuda Cores and other stuff and 1050 Ti only has bigger numbers on Core Clock and Memory speed what do you get?

It can potentially be 60-80% faster than GTX 950.

Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @3.3Ghz | Asus P5Q SE2 775 Socket | Asus Geforce 9600GT 1GB @700Mhz | 2x2GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM | 400w Codogen PSU | 310GB Seagate 7200.10

Fewer cores, fewer TMUs, many things the same... Is the clock speed jump, combined with whatever IPC changes occurred between Maxwell and Pascal enough to make this a significant improvement over the 950?

I was wondering if it will even be as fast, let alone faster. Pascal isn't that different from Maxwell, the core count difference has me worried.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Nvidia probably wants a card for every person's budget, even when its not necessary, when the buyer can just spent a bit more on a better card.

Buyer 1: i have $249 in my pocket

Nvidia: here, buy this 1060 for $249!

B2: i have $149!

Nv: 1050ti good card, cheap!

B3: $119 here and some pocket lint

Nv: 1050 for you and bread crumbs!

B4: only have $90 bucks :(

Nv: well make card for you at $90 bucks! 1050LE!

750 Ti was a great card for light HTPC work. might be nice to have slightly more performance

It's nice for lightweight gaming too. I had one in my first PC build and could run most things at 1080p (what it couldn't run would be fine for 720p too).
