Well, the dt770 is on sale on newegg right now for $110 so I'd personally go for that and grab a mod mic for a pretty solid setup under 150 total.

Hello guys,

 

I want to upgrade my gaming sound system. Mainly, of course, for gaming, and then, music.

I use the onboard ALC887 with my Plantronics RIG Headset. I would like to know what would be the best option to upgrade my gaming sound system.

Maybe a Xonar DGX or a Fiio E10K DAC? Or maybe the onboard audio is enough? What do you guys recommend?

Sure, but I would spend all of it on headphone + mic without worrying about dac/amp just yet. Read through the recommended gear list to get an idea of what's available that fits your sound preference:
