AMD VS Intel Two Different Builds, What to Pick?

even if they are single threaded performance wise, it won't make much difference if there isn't much headroom after launching a game or w/e.

You mean that after Vegas is done doing what its doing, if I launched a game right after the FX would do it a bit faster?

Ehhhh...I'm an ASUS Fanboy, but I could give it a look at. Also actually no, it's turbo is 3.8 I'm happy about that it's not an awkward number like 3.9 like a standard i7k. That annoys the hell out of me. Why couldn't they just make it 4.0Ghz? I mean they always do 3.2 to like 3.4 or 3.4 to 3.8 but the I7 is 3.5 to 3.9....why? Its so annoying/weird. It's like Intel never wants to touch 4Ghz themselves and just leave that up to the buyers.

Yeah im an asus fan too (I got my friend to buy a ch5f for his rig) and ive used the m5a78l-m/usb3 in 3 seperate builds now (for my friend stu, damian and this pc which will go to my missus).

but the gigabyte board is what i would get in this scenario, because of the vrm design, google image it and see if you like the looks too.

I was debating wether or not to go ud7 or ch5f-z....i still havent decided, ill prob go 3930k and 2011 second hand because im cheap (it fits my needs better which makes it worth the 2x expense)

linus thinks no 1 is asus (and most of the gaming community), 2 is jointly msi and gigabyte, 3 is asrock (if you must) and the list stops there! but if you had to id pick foxconn then consoles then biostard, sure you can buy 2 biostarts for the same price, but you'd have to for when the first one dies, then what do you do when the second dies?

Ok 1: That goes over my budget, 2: an OC'd 8320 to 4.2Ghz is EXACTLY like an 8350. OC'ing it to 4.5Ghz is going to be even better.

They are like $20 more...lol and will OC further too

that's why I consider them to suck the most out of all the brands out there, second comes gigabyte.

MSI, Biostar and asrock are all reasonable, I just prefer Biostar since with the prices in SA I can buy myself 2 Biostar boards for the price one from MSI would cost me. (taking features in mind)

I don't think MSI, and the others did either. There just might be some part in them thats like slightly more resistant some how. Either that or Biostar is a company that is mainly focused on hotter areas.

No, you didn't just state vegas and I didn't focus on that I was focused on the recording software. if you want to record gameplay footage you need headroom which you won't have much left over on the xeon when playing cpu intensive games during which the AMD will have higher frame rates.

amd with a gigabyte ud7, i beleive its around the $115 mark, has a completely black aesthetic, and a better vrm.

you could game on the xeon but im guessing youll get the urge to give a mild oc later on anyway.

*just now checking* THAT MOBO IS 220 DOLLARS WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?

Ok $41 difference, well the xeon would be more expensive then an 8350 one would think? So why not get an 8350?

Because to even the Intel build out I am not getting a case or aftermarket CPU cooler because I don't need them. Did you even look at the Intel build completely?...

Yeah, I got it. But I'll probably do more console recording like with my Roxio HD Pro on my 360, or next gen systems. I'll be doing a couple PC game recordings though probably.

I see, well the 8320 isn't bad compared to the xeon in any way, it does slack at a few things but not so much so that it would be considered a problem, however for streaming and pc game recordings the xeon will slack a lot more than the 8320 in cpu intensive games which I would find unacceptable.

I'll eventually upgrade to the El Gato or the Gamer HD II someday. It's not like the 8320 is bad right? I mean if I just OC it to 4.5 It'll be better than a standard 8350 right?

it is exactly the same chip as the 8350, it's just binned lower and therefore has a lower stock clock speed, as soon as you go to 4 GHz - 4.2 GHz you basically have an 8350 right there. going up to 4.5 GHz is exactly the same as overclocking the 8350 to 4.5 GHz. The 8350 because it is binned a bit higher can just reach higher overclocks if lucky, even then most only reach 4.8 GHz

Lol yeah it is. I couldn't remember off the top of my head. Also I'm loving how I added a poll and AMD was winning with 5 votes and now all of a sudden Intel people are voting....sadly they are simply voting to vote and not explaining why its a good idea to go with Intel while all the Intel/AMD knowledgeable people have explained what I should get and not simply just voted.
