Brand new SeaSonic M12II 850W extremely loud when but only when i play Miscreated.

when i stress test cpu and gpu is stay silent.

 

i tried to return it back but the store refuse to accept it (KSP israel)

i consider removing the fan inside or replace it with 600-800rpm one.

what could happen if the fan removed ? all components are at 40C inside the case (only gpu get hotter)

Don't mess with a PSU's internals. You can literally kill yourself on the capacitors. M12II are on the louder side, it's normal

There was a guide I saw in the forums to change your PSU fan, I would care to use at least a 1300RPM one because M12IIs tend to get a bit hot (and heat eats into your capacitors' lifetime).

 

But just like Don said, it's a dangerous endeavour that you should only do if you can tell an MOV from a schottky, or when you've had experience soldering PCBs.

 

It could be a very fun and enlightening experience for you, but be warned.

 

(edit just realized MOVs are mosfets lol)

A couple tips I could gather by searching the web:

-Ground yourself

-Use gloves

-Insulate your screwdriver

-For the love of Cthulhu, unplug the PSU first!

-Buy an adapter since most PSUs use those small 2-pin connectors (or clip it off and solder if you're confident)

 

I would say, if you've already done it before, you should be fine.

 

What fan do you have in mind? (You should get one that's close to the same RPM as the stock one so its stays just as cool).

its now with industrial fan that make 1300rpm (chines ebay one) and its much more quiet

i have no idea how fast the seasonic fan runs

i just never gonna buy their products

Seasonic makes great PSUs. It's just that this series is loud (but very reliable)

 

I will take a loud Seasonic over a silent time bomb.

i wont take anything loud that ruin my experience on the pc there is no reason to tolerate noisy pc they just put a cheap fan inside. for small box like that you don't need high end fan with high CFM

i setup 600rpm fan inside from Antec with 2 speed controller 600/1200 set on high or low (i use low)

The M12 is a loud PSU by design. I don't know why people don't look into these things before they buy them. Nonetheless, rather than soldering a new fan into your PSU I'd just get a fanless PSU or a PSU with a passive system like a Corsair RMi or EVGA GS.
