Totally amazing and not dangerous cooling idea

PilotTroll

If you made an air tight pc case and made it into a make-shift vacuum chamber, would that cool a pc really well and will it blow up? (i kinda wanna try it but i have no idea what I'm doing)

wtf that would be the worst cooling case possible. there would be no where for the heat to dissipate and it would just stay on the component. even if you ripped off the heat sink and heat spreader it would have better cooling than being inside a vacuum because it can still transfer heat to the air

Yeah the way heatsinks work is by removing heat using air. No air = no cooling.

*read title* *came expecting some crazy s**t* was not disappointed.

Airtight case and vacuum don't mix, the case would just give in.

Not to mention it would get hotter than Linus in there

Just put a bag of ice on top of your pc and call it a day. 10/10 cooling

actually probably not. a computer in the air in the middle of a desert will probably cool better than a computer in space

it wont make it cool any better but you can actually use your computer as a heater by just having it run some intensive task

the outer space has a temp of −270.45 °C and it's so vast that the ISS isn't even worth a grain of sand

Things cool in space by radiation. Radiation is far less effective than conduction.

There are things designed for cooling PC's called heatsinks and fans.

Things have been pretty on topic--you never asked about how to cool your pc in the first place.
