Seriously this kind of nonsense is all over the place. It's so damn annoying.

 

If you are running onmy three watts below the max allowed ATX standard on your GPU (which I know it ISNT) then you have a serious issue with your GPU.

 

Why would anyone buy into this bullshit? Oh right, marketing.

 

This is the kind of nonsense that steers me AWAY from products. Like this:

Their just referring to the fan power consumption, it's just them boasting lower power consumption which is always a good thing IMO.

More power for overclocking from lower power fans... right sure.  Yeah you nailed it already I think - if that actually helps, there's other issues you should be more worried about :D 

 

Not to mention the huge "4x lower power consumption" as if it's the whole card when it's just the fans...

More efficient fans are better but they are no way going to help you get 100mhz more on your core clock. They aren't even related to the GPU power delivery.

the real benefit to better fans is obviously more airflow with lower noise, lower temps, etc. but not they wouldn't draw attention to that - they pull the bullshit to put front and centre and let the real benefits fall by the wayside.  Not that they're unique in doing this though - don't think for a second I'm just ripping on EVGA - I've seen so much misleading advertising in the tech space it's not even funny.  It's perhaps more rampant than accurate ads even.

Now all we need is a chart showing the amount of VRAM with 1 bar at like 4 GB and one at 6 GB, but the x axis is brought up to like 3.5 so the 6 looks like 10 times larger than the 4....

Also: "Above test conducted with both fans set to the same acoustic level" So just find a GPU with better quality, quieter fans, and run them at 5x the RPM of your fans to make them as loud = profit?

"Oh wow, it's using way more power at a way higher RPM that's equally as loud as our low RPM because our fans aren't as good"

Despite my complaints, I don't even really care that much.  Like I said, I've seen this so often from so many companies, I just ignore it and check actual stats.  Who cares what's on the product page - that's for people who don't want to actually do their homework.  And it's unfortunate that they might get screwed over from time to time but at least ... idk, I wont? :P

All these gaming companies cater to the PC Gamers who believe any marketing hype they're fed and wonder why said hype doesn't actually mean much. You could say your hardware runs on quantum materials that give you a 10% edge in performance and if someone doesn't call you out on your BS, everyone will eat it up.

Well the lower the efficiency, the less you have to drop the power target to match that 3 W loss and thus the smaller the hit to FPS.

Now changing the power limit by 2% will be 3W.  Turn it down 2% and run benchmarks to compare... xD

actually ~1.4% in fps and graphics scores. granted, this is a card that cant reach advertised boost clock at stock power limit, so it needs all the watts it can get. even then, there isnt a noticable difference. yeah, tech marketing is just stupid. realize though that most people who buy stuff dont do much research, so this is aimed more for them.
