980ti or 1080

Go to solution Solved by ClownFace1511,

Wait till the 1080ti comes out. You dont wanna be in that place where you just buy a 1080 and a new one comes out. Im running 2x 980ti's at 4k and its fine. Just wait a bit and see what comes out. Either way if you can pick up a 980ti cheap then by all means do that.

Hey all, I'm getting a second graphics card to SLI with my current 980ti (link of exact card below) and my question would it be better to get the same card or a 1080 I do gamming on a 3440x1440p monitor and a single card can really struggle in some games any suggestions are appericated!

SLI 980ti's can handle it, HOWEVER*******, SLI can be an issue with some titles and may actually underperform as support for SLI is hit and miss. The rule of thumb is to always go with the single fastest card you can afford. So if you can afford to upgrade to the 1080, then I would suggest doing so for a smoother 4k experience.

Personally unless this second 980ti you are considering is being bought at a very very good price as they said above. Just sell your 980ti and get a 1080 of which ever brand you prefer.
