Wasabi, like it or hate it?

c00face

It has no flavor at all, and I prefer habenero sauce.

Or actually, I just had bad quality wasabi when Ive tried it before with the flavor gone.

Never had it so I can't tell if I like it or not. Compared to habanero, how is it?

It reminds me of (white) Chrain (spicy paste made of grated horseradish), which I like. Both are nice in modest quantities, especially with sushi or pelmeni (Russian ravioli).

Real wasabi is great and I can eat it all day, however, most packed wasabi is just horse radish.

I love spicy things, but I think wasabi is disgusting.

Yea Ive only had it in ready made sandwiches and cooked sushi ready meals from the supermarket, it was either just horseraddish or left open for too long so the flavor vanished.

Its a shame cos I liked the cooked sushi (obviously cant get raw from supermarkets, and Im sill not keen on raw fish).

Still the fish was very minimally cooked and tasted semi raw, they cook it just enough to kill any microbes.

Dont really have any proper sushi restaurants where I live. Loads of Indian, Chinese, and european ones, but no sushi ones.

Hot chillis / peppers are hot in the mouth, wasabi is meant to be hot in the nasal passage, maybe like raw onion?

I cant tell cos I never got proper wasabi.

Completely different kind of spice.

It affects mainly the nasal passage, whereas non-horseradish types of peppers affect mainly the throat and tongue.

On levels of spice? The real stuff is fucking HOT. Easily hotter than habanero.

The fake cheap stuff made from horseradish, dyes, and flavoring is well... as hot as horseradish.

Hmm... It's probably closer to ginger.

Too spicy for me... I draw the line at jalapeno.

Wuss, I cant even taste jalapenos and green chillis anymore. I need bird eye chillis or habenero / scotch bonnet now.

I get pizzas with green chillis, jalapenos and roquito chillis and cant taste any hotness unless I put on hotter ones.

Me too, I guess after a while you develop some kind of tollerance.

Can't have it, I have an intolerance. Makes me reflux / throw up.

I do enjoy spicy food though so I supplement it with trinidad scorpion peppers. I'd get ghost peppers if I could, but it's rather hard to find where I live.
