Exactly, SP said you couldn't get a good unit for cheap, $30 for a 450M

There's a difference between selling below cost, to attract more purchases (and expecting half the people won't send in the rebate anyway) and a PSU that costs $30 (including profit margins)

No, I didn't say that, I never specified a price point:

Under a certain price point

And also that are rebated prices that might not be legal in Germany as it is required by law for a manufacturer to sell stuff so that they make a profit off it.

So the mail in rebate stuff doesn't really count...

Hello guys,

My PSU in my old pc started to get very loud and if I would hit it goes silent again for a short time. From what I understand its the fan's inside PSU fault. So I think the best thing to do for me is to buy a new PSU and would like to ask your suggestion which one I should buy.

My pc specs:

ASRock H61M-VS

Intel core i5 - 2300

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450

4,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz

Im on a tight budget, so im looking for a cheap option and im going to buy from this store:

Cheapest thing I would buy.

Something reasonable.

The 2080Ti is a bit more power-hungry, so personally, I'd go with a 650w from tier 1.

Anyone know much about the Toughpower GX-1 (Gold)? It's going to be replacing the VS650 (Orange label) in my brother's desktop if it's a good unit as the VS650 isn't stable when games are played (its started causing BSOD, same as when it was in my rig).

Lower Quality small caps, looks like a Standard CWT GPS based unit...

And I really do not like that plattform. I have a 750W Version of it and the Hong Hua fan, although rotating as 350rpm, is very loud due to tickering.

And my CWT GPS Unit also has noticable Electronics noise at higher loads...

Buttom Line: get something better than this...

PS: With Low quality Caps I'm talking about ChengX and JunFu...

And it looks like one the larger 2200µF Caps in that unit looks like ChengX as well...

If that's the case, I'll probably go with the latest version of the CX450M.

I'm talking about the newer CX450M, the one backed with a 5 year warranty made last year. Not the crappy green ones from 2015 (my CX850M from back then was good with stability, but awful with its coil whine). I just wasn't sure where the GX-1 sat as there isn't much in the way of in-depth reviews.

Still about the same unit with the same plattform.

I'd rather not use an older Double FOrward unit without at least some kind of buffer capacitors...

Well, it depends on what you have as a comparisation.

Here in Germany the GX1 is bullshit as you can get the better Bitfenix Formula for about the same price, so why bother with that?

Don't know how its wherever you live but you might want to take a look at the Bitfenix Formula as well...

Don't know how its wherever you live but you might want to take a look at the Bitfenix Formula as well...

What I have to directly compare from experience are:

  • 2014 Corsair VS650 (which is no longer stable under load if the temps get even near 30oC)
  • 2015 Corsair CX850M (horrendous coil whine but still working without issues in my friends desktop)
  • 2017 Antec EAG650Pro (no more BSOD with my main rig after replacing the VS650 with it-plus far more connectors)

The main thing is I can get the known decent CX450M for $95 AUD (including postage, store in another state), or a 600W Thermaltake GX-1 (costs $10 more than the 500W) for $119 (including $10 postage) which is from a store that's within bus distance.

Just found an Antec EAG750Pro (far better than any PSU that I was looking at) for $105, which is actually far cheaper than the 550W and 650W models. So I'd just end up with the 750W unit (which actually costs less than what I paid for the Antec EAG650Pro months ago), and my brother's rig can have my EAG650Pro.

The RMx for sure. It's certified as Lambda-A+ compared to the Focus 850's Lambda S+.

For that rig in the sig?
None as a good 550W is more than enough so a Bitfenix Formula, Whisper M (450 or 550W) or better the be quiet Straight Power 11.

Moar Watt doesn't give you quieter operation, as the absolute load is important (ie 400W), not the relative one (ie 44 to 65%)

As for quiet operation:
Seasonic does NOT make particularly quiet PSU!

It doesn't matter. What I asked between this two psu-s which one is better in terms of quality/sound. Seasonic has also hybrid switch, while corsair doesn't have it but has other sound efficiency ratings,so it makes difficult choise for me

I'd go for the Corsair.

Why would you need 850W though? It's a waste of money likely...
