Getting VERY close to breaking into the 23000s on my 5900X. 4.65GHz PBO, at this point I think this biggest drag is having to run my RAM in 3466MHz mode rather than 3600 at CL16.

Well looks like i'll need better cooling for the 5800X3D after all. Boosting just to 4.2GHz with the Wraith Prism LED cooler from my old 2700X.

But still satisfying. And this is comapred to the 5600X it changed with and without PBO.

Decided to open the front glass panel of my case to let the fans draw a bit more air - not that much of a difference:

23,347 from a 5900X. All core PBO2 boost to 4.7GHz, no doubt helped by the 15°C ambient temperature in my office this morning.

I wonder if B550 chipset brings performance gains over the B450?

And not to be entirely off-topic, some single core score on the X3D.

This P+E cores and threads is soooo confusing to me... How does this work? Each P core gets 2 threads and each E core only a single thread ? And also, i can't help but chuckle a little every time i see 13900k MAX TDP - 125W.

nah, nothing notable, i think your scores are pretty good... you still using the Prism cooler? what's the temps with that during multi?

and even if you have a better cooler,  i think around 15000 pts is it with this thing, its not a "productivity" chip, i mean the 5800x smokes it for breakfast at that task lol.

I did some PBO overclocking - and that's on a Hyper 212 EVO 😄

The temps are always below 80C so i have headroom for improvements.

The all core clock speed is 4.65GHz, so i will raise that to 4.8GHz or something like that.

It depends on the VRMs, the chipset doesn't make a difference at all.

hehe yeah, thats probably a bug, my b350 had that too... until I updated the BIOS,  talk about downgrade! : p

Nah, switched to EVGA CLC 280mm and now on 10 minute test it holds about 83°C with the "Silent" presetup. Tried NH-U14S but even with this monstrosity, the X3D still managed to hit 90°C few seconds into the test, even when the fan was manually set to full speed. With pump at full speed and fans at performance, it keeps around 80C in R23 and about 48C during gaming.

not bad for a laptop... thats about a r5 3600 equivalent.

did you... actually just replace the cpu? what was it previously? or is 600 for the whole laptop?

The NH-U14S is better than the 212 EVO i am working with here,

Yet the temps you get are insanely higher than what i get.

What are your PBO Currents,Wattage and curve optimizer settings?

What is the CPU voltage at?

The chip is probably using more power than it needs.
