Yeah it actually seems to perform a bit better in aida64 cache & memory benchmark.
Also managed to slightly tighten some timings so now I'm running stable 10-12-11-28 1T.

Yeah makes a difference.  I was running my ddr4 at 2t for a while and it's so slow.

Finally got my 4790K running better, turns out that adjusting the VRM to run at full phased, and the FIVR to run at performance made a massive difference-though I couldn't replicate the top score with multiple re-runs (4.8GHz 1 core, 4.7GHz 2-3 core, 4.6GHz 4 core).

Getting much better but like you say, you need better ram.  Maybe try picking up some half decent 2*2gb kit that's 1600c8.  Should be cheap because 2gb sticks of ddr3 aren't that useful.

Would any of these be good?

No.  You need a 2*2gb kit for $35-40 aussi. Dealz must be had.  Fond some used ram.  Looking at g. Skill but also less popular ram brands as well. Just type them into ebay and go on low to high.

Not my system or I'd push it more, from what I can tell it's pretty good but just built it for a friend and did a slight overclock :)

What's the best you got out of your 5820k?  Never mind. I found it.  I'm readjusting my per core overclock and I'm 6 cores at the moment.

Called in to work today (sick) so I decided to bench for a bit.  I've bested my last R15 submission (1007pts) by 14 for a total of 1024.  I only spent all morning doing it.

The highest cinebench temps i've monitored are 64°c so I'm kinda tempted to take the vcore higher and see if I can squeeze 5.1 now that I am running my cpu naked.  What do you guys think?

1024cinesubsmall.jpg

also did a run after loading cpu-z and HWinfo to show temps and still got 1024.

Damn nice single-threaded for sure!!

There's a glitch in R15 when you run subsequent tests, it'll keep posting the same score from previous tests.  Not every time, but it happens a lot.

Thanks!  I only gained 1pt on single thread, compared to the 14 on multicore but I guess that could add up with rounding.  Plus I only ran single core once, pts/GHz went up 3.5 i think though to 204.9

phew, start at 200?  more like, can't boot under 215 haha.  225 was lowest I could get through Cinebench.  I tried dropping freq down to 2178 just to see if 200 could boot and still crashed.

Know of any good ddr3 OC guides?  especially tertiary?  I've looked but can't find much that is helpful

It did get things up to 1026 though

1026cine.jpg

I have been closing everything down that I can, including explorer and setting Cinebench priority to realtime, with only a bit of the window actually visable.

well that's probably part of the problem.  I'm using a 4x4gb Klevv NEO 2133 10-12-12-31, would I be better off to remove 2 dimms temporarily?  I thought about doing that but they're in there pretty tight between GPU backplate and top fans.  If it'd be worth it I'll get it done though

ideally you would test them one at a time and use the best 2, but aint nobody got time for that :P theya re probably the lowest samsung bin i hope. 9-11-11-28 1T would be good. i think your trfc is quite high but still miles better than it was. if it is samsung you can go all the way to 2.1v on them, but if they arent then that would be a bad idea!. to play it safe i would try get it to 1.85v and drop on timing at a time. try 10-12-11-31 1T, then 10-11-12-31 1T, then 9-12-12-31 1T, 9-11-11-31 1T then drop the 31 to 28. then we can go from there.

you could try them at 1.65v at first if you want and if you can it would help to take 2 dimms out.

SK group owns Klevv and Hynix iirc so I'm almost certain that they'd be Hynix but I could be wrong.  Running 1.725v on dram right now, but I'll take two dimm out and take the rest up to 1.85 and try some of these timings.  They've got 2200rpm of Vardar goodness directly on them so I hope they'll be alright :D

Oh I've also got a 1x8gb Gskill 2400 CL11-13-13-31 @ 1.65v laying around if that might have more potential
