I might have to make a stop at Bunnings then. Even if I have to go with an external pump, though the hours of expected run time from the pump might drive the cost up a bit.

a pond pump is designed to run 24/7 for the warranty period as long as you keep it under 40c. mine is 3500l/h and was £25. i can push water through 4 gpus and 2 cpus a 1500 or 2000 would be fine for just a cpu and single gpu so you could save even more there.

We're getting outside temps as low as -6c already so I might wheel the rig out onto the rear deck and see if I can't break 2000cb on "ambient".  :D  I think a 25c drop in ambient temps might get it done.

Is it me, or is my E8500 a really good chip? Just look at that voltage (which is set to auto).

Still can't believe I paid $15 for it.

Yeah sold it yesterday and got collected today. :( sad to see it go as it was a good cpu.

I really hope zen can match it or at least bring the price down so much that I can afford to keep it!

I have had it 2 weeks and I managed to do 132 submissions on hw with it which means it's my highest subbed cpu.

Sad to hear that man.

They are fun though, aren't they.  Well over 50% overclocks and plenty of cores.  They scale very well as you clock them higher too.

I think Ryzen is definitely going to help adjust the market, but I don't believe what AMD is trying to convince us at all.  It will most likely be a great chip, but they presented it the way they did for a reason.  :S  Regardless, if it's good, I'm going to build a system with one just because I haven't had an AMD chip in a very long time.

Q1: Is there a way to see who used AM2+ MB and who didn't ?
Because, I would like to compare my AM3 in AM2+ MB, but I don't see how I can do that (since there is no AM2+ comment in any score from AM3/AM3+ section) :(

Its on Auto.....its a lazy overclock (plus I'm running it of a 400W PSU which only has 1x SATA connector, and which I suspect is from around 2003-2004, and the PSU gets uite warm, warmer than my other 400W/500W peak PSU).

i dont think anyone has run an am3+cpu in an am2+ board yet but the only cpu that will benefit are single core and dual core locked chips that need a higher base clock.

try this.

turn off all power saving poo

set cpu core to 1.4v

set ram to 2-2.2v

set fsb to 1.38v

set nb to 1.38v

enable LLC

then see how high it will go. then i shall tell you how good it is.

I'll also install the Coolermaster Eclipse, since I'm running a designed-after-stock cooler of the same age (though that cooler has extremely good mounting pressure+ a copper core-its optimized for Pentium 4 and Conroe dual core however)

At the very least it would cut down the bloody noise, the cooler doesn't have a PWM fan, so its at 100% all the time.
