Thinking about 4k gaming. Is my PC Powerful enough?

TopazBrandon

To start off, my pc specs are under my name.

I would need a constant 50-60fps, more is just better on ultra settings for games such as Battelfield 4/1 and Rainbow 6 Siege.

I'm thinking either get a  1440p or a 4k monitor, 27-32". I have a 21:9 29" monitor which gets 100 fps on bf4 64 man, on ultra settings. 1440p monitor would prob have the same results as both monitors are 2560 across.

My card is a 3gb card and i really dont know too much about pc specs, but I'm gonna assume the higher the resolution the more vram ur gonna need. So theres that, maybe 3gb isn't enough? I don't have tons of money to throw at my pc, and most of the money would go for a monitor. I could probably find another 780ti on craigslist for $300, but i'd like to stay with 1 card. AND vram doesn't stack so I'd still be at 3gb.

What are your thoughts? Extra: With getting a 1440p monitor I could step up to 120/144hz too. My ultra wide and 4k is stuck at 60hz.

780ti will be insuffiecient for 4k. You need a gtx 1080 at least in order to handle 4k.

780Ti isn't gonna cut it. For single-card 4k, high settings playable FPS, you're looking at a 1080. Other cards can handle 4k, but you'd have to dial the settings back.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Here. Medium settings 4k or ultra on 1080p. Which would you choose? And is that difference worth the money to get a 4k monitor?

You could do medium settings at 4k. When I played GTA 5 at 4k, I had to put all my settings at low to play, and I was getting around 30fps.

Depends a lot on the game. I could do 4k ultra BF4 on my GTX980 at only about 30fps, but Rocket League at ultra 4k runs at 60fps, SNOW at 4k is ~40-45fps, Project Cars at 4k ultra (except AA) at 50+fps, Mad Max at 4k ultra at 50+fps, and even MGS5 at 4k ultra at 45+fps. Other games that play great at 4k include KSP, Civ5, War Thunder, and any older games. Games like Rise of the TR, Witcher 3, FC4, or FO4, can't even get 15fps at 4k ultra though.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

Okay. What is better. (2) Gtx 780 TI SuperClocked ACX or (1) Gtx 780 TI SuperClocked ACX + gtx 980ti?

30-60fps ultra on bf4 lets say is needed

I wonder how much vram i'll need. both ways ill only have 3gb^ hell. I can't run all out max settings on 1080p on six siege without going over 3gb vram.

980Ti is more 19k-22k in most cases.

And FS Score doesnt say much about the real Gaming Performance.

1070 perfect for 2k, 1080 good for 4k

that 780ti is not so good with 4k, maybe 2k but still not steady 60fps

it really depends on what you want to play on 4K and how you want ur settings to be. I play quite a few games on 4K but they are older games or something like rocket league (which i can run @ 120fps on 2160p) the games you mentioned wont run well at 4k unless you put most things on low.

i personally can't run newer games on 4k with framerates i find acceptable so i play on 1440. But i decided to do this before i bought my monitor, because i bought the monitor for a little future proofing. I intend to buy a full vega as soon as it's released to go for actual 4K gaming. Then at a later point i will buy a higher refresh rate 4k monitor. So if you can live with the lower settings and resolutions you could follow a similar path and buy a higher end gpu at a later point.

Just my 2 cents anyway :)

and about the 780ti + 980ti, if you're going to buy the 980ti anyway you could just use the 780ti as a physx card.. although if thats worth it in the power use you'll have to decide urself, cuz you can't use em in SLI if that was the plan. Perhaps with dx12 but i doubt that's gonna be any good with those cards..
