The CPUs may be the same price but the 2011 motherboards cost much more. I'd go for the 4770k.

Depends on your use case, if your just gaming then get the 4770k if your doing things that are very CPU intensive get the 4820k

While the CPU's might be the same price, the motherboard for a 2011 socket is more expensive

The 4770k wins the best over all chip in my book and is what I would highly recommend.

The only thing that really comes to mind as an advantage to include on what others said is the 4820k offers the highest base clock at 3.7ghz (beat out all other chips right now) and with the 4770k at 3.5ghz.

Well these cpus are almost the exact same price where i am and i was wondering what platform i should go for? lga 2011 or 1150? I mean close to the same price is it worth it just to go that route instead?

ask urself 2 questions:

1- do i need 64Gb of ram, today or even in the future while using new system?

2- will i be going for quad sli or cfx config? (cause those would be the only configs where the gpu lanes would be useful)

if the answer to any of these questions is NO, dump 4820K and get ur self a fast and power efficient i7 4770K! :D

The 4820k woulld be good if you do need more PCie lanes, and more DIMMS. It also has the heatspreader soldered to the die rather than cheap TIM like the 4770k.

Also, the 2011 motherboards are generally more expensive. However, they do leave more room to upgrade.
