No audio from rear motherboard IO ports

QFA350

Gday folks!

This morning when I went to watch some YouTube no sound was coming from my speakers. They are plugged into the orange, green and black jacks at the rear ports of my motherboard. I checked the speakers on another PC and they all work perfectly. They also work fine if I plug them into the front headphone port of my case. I tried reinstalling the Realtek Audio Driver but with no luck. I really need a fix for this because I'm selling my PC in two weeks.

Speakers are Logitech X530 5.1

Motherboard is Gigabyte GA P55a UD3P

OS is 10 Pro

Thanks for your help!

Play a video or something while you're at that window and see if those green bars come up on the device.

I know but it'll still look like it's at 100% if it's muted.

Unplug all cables, uninstall your sound driver, reboot, reinstall, and reboot. Should work. If it doesn't, let us know.

Check your BIOS.

Solved the problem. If I unplug the front panel audio connector from the bottom of my motherboard, the sound works. Now for some more troubleshooting to find the problem.

The cable for your case might be shorting something out, maybe.

For my PC the related audio driver has an option to disable rear audio ports when the front ones are plugged. So, my guess that where that problem is, but why does your driver think that the front audio ports are in use I don't know.

Opened the front panel IO and found two broken solder joints. They are now fixed and it works perfectly.
