The performance difference is marginal but the 1070 has more vram if you need it. I would do the $30 upgrade because the price is the same and I'd get more performance later down the road.

No. The 980 Ti isn't worth the trade if at 1080p. If you're playing at 1440 or 2160, I would consider if the money was dropped. Is this from a store or a person?

even so your 980Ti is a better GPU over the 1070

you have the fastest 980Ti for 1440P and 4K

I'll have to agree with Dragoon here. I have the 980 Ti, 1070, and 1080 and the performance difference with games isn't worth trading the card with money. Especially since at 4K the difference is only about 4-10 fps between them.

The 1070 is definitely more value if think spending $30 is not a big deal. The FE 1070 can beat even the Reference Titan X, in many benchmarks, and the MSI's GTX 1070 Gaming X will certainly perform way beyond the GTX 1070 FE. The Amp! Extreme's performance is also phenomenal, but the 1070 is newer and has got 2GB more VRAM (the 2GB will certainly be necessary in the nearest future).

Nothing to see here ;)

Really?

i was considering a ''sidegrade'' to a GTX 1070 myself...since when the 980ti is better than the 1070? and why? :)

don't get me wrong i'm glad if my 980ti is better than a 1070...but i don't see it in reviews...they pretty much always have the 1070 a bit faster than the 980ti...but in unigine i do seem to score a bit higher...my 980ti is clocked at 1430mhz core and 8100mhz memory.

The problem here is that the upgrade will only yield a minor improvement. A 980 Ti is still very relevant which is why I kept mine in my PC rather than taking the 1080 (My wife wanted the 1080 more than I did).

Thats why I don't know if I should, my 980ti max boost hit core 1530, and +400 on memory, seem to be Better than most 1070, but the more VRAM and DX12, just don't know lol , I do have Asus strix 1080 oc on another system, so if this isn't much upgrade ill stick with 980ti

The Zotac AMP Extreme are pretty much like EVGA's Classys which can clock way higher than any other 980Tis

OP mentioned about his 980Ti boosting up to 1.5GHz core speed which is respectable for an air cooled card.

The 980Ti still holds it value even with the release of the GTX 1080 and 1070.

esp with your GPU OC values, it better to keep it.

the only GPUs which are dropping in value are the GTX970 and GTX980

nVidia will not be stupid and left the last gen flagship without DX12 support.

yup based on the benchmarks, the GTX 1080 isnt really blowing me away with its raw performance.

In fact, the 980Ti is still the card to use in Adobe and CUDA based compute because the applications still have yet to support the GTX 1070/1080s

The Amp! Extreme is a much higher clucked card than an average 980ti, so no, not worth the trade unless you want a smaller card. (Coming from a fellow Zotac Amp! Extreme owner)

If you concern about DX12 performance a year or 2 later, swap the card. Else your card is better.

If you already have that gtx 980 ti, I don't see any reason to get gtx 1070.

Performance is kinda same.

If he had some binned gtx 1070 I would say go for it, but in your case that's not an option.

So keep your 980 Ti, and use it untill it dies.

Then buy gtx 1280 ti :P
