How do you get something pinned in a sub forum?

I am working on something that I think should be pinned in a specific sub forum. How do you get things pinned in a sub forum?

If the staff thinks your thread is good enough and relevant, they might pin it. If the community also says it's a helpful thread, they might think about pinning it too. For example I made some guide or whatever to LTT which got pinned, but because 99% of the info was irrelevant once the IPBv4 update hit, it's not pinned anymore.

Rather than hoping for it to get pinned, link it to your sig and refer to it while you post helpful replies. Topics get pinned very rarely as moderation doesn't want page full of pinned posts. For example Air cooling doesn't have any even when there has been good guides every now and then.
