Laptop randomly shuts down after new SSD has been installed

Hey guys,

So I recently purchased an Acer Aspire V3-371 and like anyone on this forum would do, I put a brand new SSD in it. In this case, a 500GB Samsung 850 Evo. After installing the SSD and a fresh copy of Windows 10, I would occasionally run into (and still run into) a problem whereby the laptop would randomly lose power, shut down and restart. It happens more often when I'm running more intensive tasks such as Lightroom or even when watching a livestream on Twitch.

 

Event Viewer shows the following errors:

142 - Occurs when the system has stopped responding and the hardware watchdog triggered a system reset.

41 - Occurs when the system reboots without cleanly shutting down (caused by the previous error)

One thing to note, I ran the laptop with the stop HDD without any problems for hours and it didn't crash once.

 

Here are the things I've tried so far:

- Sent the laptop back to Acer. They did some stuff, idk, worked with the stock hardware, still failed with the SSD

- Installed Samsung Magician and tried to optimise the SSD

- Optimised the SSD within Windows 10 itself

- Updated all the drivers and installed Intel's Rapid Storage Technology driver thing

- Looked for an IDE/AHCI mode switch option in the bios (doesn't exist)

- Installed WhoCrashed to see if a driver failed at the time of crashing (no valid crash dumps were found)

 

I think it might be something to do with a hardware configuration or something but I'm not entirely sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Overheating perhaps?

Not that I could see. temps were hovering around 50-60 degrees C. The fan spins (sometimes ramping up to 100% for a few seconds then going back to normal).

Is there any way of cloning the entirety of the old HDD including any partitions?

Could it be a power problem (Ik haha, but you never know)? I've had that problem before with my old pc and needed to upgrade my psu to accommodate my new gtx 960.
