the company wants track customers, or at least the ones who choose carry-out over delivery ... The idea is you give the Domino's app access to your phone's GPS data, and in exchange, Domino's will know exactly when to start making your pizza so that it's fresh when you arrive at the store.

So Domino's wants to track users so their Pizza is fresh at the store, which is pretty cool. But I don't know if I would trust them with my location... What do you guys think? Would you trust them with your location?

this seems very pointless....  just because I am in a certain place doesn't mean I will be at dominoes at a certain time.  How about just asking me when I'll be there to pick it up?  like we've done for years with minimal problems

example:  I live 20 minutes from dominoes but I want to stop by the shoe store next to dominoes first to pick up new boots, now Dominoes will think I'm coming straight there and my pizza will be sitting while I'm next door trying on shoes

Not sure I get why, you can order dominos online with free delivery anyway.

If they explicitly ask you and you have to confirm by clicking a button then I think its fine.

I actually don't think that we want to know how many companies (can) track us throughout the day and here you get at least pizza delivered to you :P

I think good pizza in exchange for the location is fine ;)

Can't you spoof your location on your phone? I'd set it to the North Pole or something, then show up ten minutes later and demand to know why my pizza isn't even in the oven yet.

Most smartphone apps do this.  Google Maps.  Any of the Google apps.  If you can't deal with it, then throw your smartphone in the garbage and get a dumb-phone with no apps.  That way, only the telephone company will be able to track you.

Other than that, sounds like a decent idea, especially for those who might have to drive half an hour to a Dominos-branded restaurant.

I assume this is for people outside of the delivery area, because otherwise the issue is never that they were done too early and you no longer have a fresh pizza but rather they weren't done in time and you have to wait in the store for you pizza.

Are you sure it's free? It might seem like it is, but rather it's added onto the cost of each pizza.

It's optional, so I wouldn't choose to do this but if I did, I'd be okay with it.

Yea this is true. I pay 32.95 for 3 large pizza's, a garlic bread and large coke with free delivery. I'm sure the charge for delivery is in there somewhere but still a great deal.

This is a non-issue. If you don't want them to track you then just call them and place the order or order off their website. People complaining about this are running out of things that make them angry (if only they used their energy for something positive).

If you are given 3 options and 1 of those options you don't like then go with the option that you do like. I don't complain about a lack of stamps at my house when I get a bill in the mail, I just pay the bill online instead.

It seems like they could use it to send you adverts in the form of alerts when you travel near a Dominos. I feel like I already have enough adverts in my life, so I'd pass on this.

I am only okay with this if they give me free pizza.

Look this is opt in, last time i made an order it asked me if i wanted to share my location so they could time the pizza coming out of the oven with me arriving at the store, pressed no and I haven't been asked again.

It is an extra $8 or something for delivery options which is pretty much the same as the delivery fee for other pizza shops like Eagle Boys and Pizza Hut. I don't see how someone could not see the price difference.
