Best Middle Ground CPU: Video Editing & Gaming

Hello All, 

 

Since, I've been saving up some up cash I found myself with 1500$ to spend on a video editing, light gaming pc. Which CPU has a good middle ground for Games such as Runescape, Rust, CSGO, Technic Launcher, ect, and Video Editing software such as Camtasia, Sony Vegas Pro, and Adobe premiere. I was thinking the i7 6700k?

The 6700k would be the best budget wise choice.

Why do you say budget?, there is no budget really just the 1500$ is what I can pay for instantly, I could always just put the rest on a card.

I think he means budget on as if I was to build the whole pc on a 1500$ Max price standpoint spending almost a third of the cash on a CPU could be pricy.

Budget and $300+ cpu don't work together.

It can if the MoBo is around 250$ PSU around 100$ case's I've got are ATX from a lot of companies and ect so it could work quite easily, I don't think you know how cheap this build could be and still operate well.

The best or one of the best cpu's for gaming is hardly budget.

It maybe one of the best CPU's, but when the price cap is pretty good then it would make that price point seem like nothing.

The 5820k is about the same price though the boards can be a little bit more expensive, and if yoy do not plan on overclocking then a 6700 and h170 could save some money for more gpu power, but really all of the games listed would run off of the igpu decently, the video editing could benefit from a gpu though, depends on the program.

Leaves ~$400 for a GPU, which I honestly would hold out on buying. Slot in your old card if you have one, or buy a cheap used 280X or 290 until the 1070 gets better availability, or the RX 480 benchmarks come out. 950 pro drive for the OS with a separate ~50GB partition for a scratch disk. Dual WD 1TB's for RAID backup of your finished products.

The 5820k may have a little bit more performance then the 6700k in video editing.

 

 If you don't plan on overclocking go for a i7 6700 non "k". It will save you some money to go toward another part of the system.

For gaming, an i5-6600 (K or not) would be a great choice. An i7-6700 would render video a bit faster, with the proper software that can use that many threads.

 

For video editing, as I keep pointing out, the main variable is time - that is, in particular, how long it takes to render things.

An i5-6600 will do the video production just fine. It might take longer than a 6700 or 5820 would, but unless you've got a boss looking over your shoulder, what's the hurry?

for budget video editing, the 6700k doesnt have a chance against the FX 8350.

 

It is faster, but for budget it is not even close in terms to price to performance when talking about editing.

the FX8350 is also not as good for gaming as the i7 6700k or 5820k
