10 best CPU on the market? Gaming / Workwise

Hiho,

 

I was wondering what are the best CPU for gaming currently? Could someone make a list of top 5 or top 10 gaming CPU? Also another for workstation CPU? Thanks in advance!

 

PS.

Include the CPUs that are coming out this year also 6800K etc please!

Doesn't matter how much what costs, i7. i5, i3 doesn't matter. Not looking for bang for the buck, I just need a list of opinions on which processors are best like top 5 for gaming and top 5 for workstations, disregard Xeon processors.

i7 6700K is the best 'gaming' CPU currently but the i5 6600K is more bang for your buck. Too lazy to make a top ten

there is no "best" cpu, because if there was, no one would be buying anything else.

 

it all comes down to what you're doing, and how much money you can put into that.

I don't care how much each processor costs, I asked a simple question...

well.. an overclocked 6950x will destroy everything else in gaming, but you pay $2K for that

while if you'd be playing flight simulator X a $50 pentium would be just as good, if not better.

Yes... But I need a list and not an opinion on what will be best because that's obvious, and yes I'm also aware that $50 i3 will be fine for gaming, but that's not what I asked. I asked about a list. Why everyone here overcomplicates everything?

Gaming:

1. i7 6700K

All the AMD ones are DDR3 but the Intel ones if you want DDR3 just look for i3-4170, i3-4370,  i5-4460, i5-4690k or i7-4790k

Haha, yea I know, I was just wondering why you didn't include e.g. 4790k or 4690k in the list, since they're still amazing.

Well if you have a i7-4790K its not point getting the i7-6700K!

Best cpu for gaming atm: 6700K

 

Workstation: Xeon E3-2699-V3

There are also Xeon E7´s but i suppose that you cannot afford one.

Let alone a complete E7 based setup.

Because to be honnest your question is waste of everyone´s time.

You expect that people do the homework for you, thats of course not how a tech forum works.

All you have to do is go to partpicker.com, select cpu´s.

And use common sense?

You don't understand. There is no simple answer because each CPU does better than another in something. There is no "best". If I play GTA V then the 8350 might be better than an i5, but if I play Arma 3 then the i5 will dominate the 8350. 

 

If you want a list, just start looking at the most expensive i7's and you'll find what you need.

No it doesn't. I simply asked for a list of best CPUs in two categories. I didn't ask specifically for newest CPU. If 10 year old CPU is best then list it, but the incompetence in this thread is out of this world and since I apparently "waste everyone's time" I'm no longer replying to this thread. Not going to keep asking, and arguing. I'm just gonna be smarter and leave this mess.

Literally three people (including myself) replied and you've already deemed this thread a fail? Talk about lack of patience.

 

Specific situations call for specific CPUs. That's why it's arbitrary to make a list of CPUs because each situation (whether for gaming or work) is different. In short, there's no top ten.

Not to complicate things for gaming, it would go roughly so (i know there are margins +- 5 to 10% depends on game etc.):

 

1. i7 6700K =  i7 4790K = 4770k

2. i5 6600K = i5 4690K = 4670k

3. any other 3xxx , 4xxx and 6xxx i5 , AMD 8370, 8350, 8320,

4. AMD 81xx, i7 2600k, i5 2500k

5. FX 6300

5. i3

6. Pentium G3258

The 6700k is arguably the best bang for the buck for gaming its on top 5 atleast.

But this is a list that change every year
