Intel releases Xeon E7 Broadwell-EX

Intel has just released their Intel Xeon E7 v4 processors based on the latest Broadwell-EX architecture. Built on the 14nm process, these processors are the Xeon E7 4800 v4 and Xeon E7 8800 v4. Socket count starts out at 4 and can go up to 8, but with 3rd party node controllers, it can scale all the way up to 64 sockets. Each processor can handle up to 3TB of ram, with a maximum bandwidth of 102GB/s, and it can run on both DDR3 or DDR4. Minimum core count for the Xeon E7 is a 4 core and the highest you can get is a 24 core, with HyperThreading and has 60MB of LLC cache. Due to the large amounts of ram, these processors can handle,

The servers running these are just crazy, I remember seeing some pictures of an intel sever with 12TB or RAM and 8 x v3 CPUs.

Now that I read the ark page more carefully, the socket is listed as fclga 2011. Not sure of any incompatibilities between that and LGA 2011v3 though.

There are some dark smudges on the under side of the cpu, this means someone was trying to OC it. :D

nope . I own an e7 , and it's actually socket lga 2011-1 ( not original lga 2011 or even lga 2011v3 ). It's the successor to lga 1567 . lga 2011v3 doesn't have the pins  for the extra qpi lanes. 

But e5's do work on 2011v3 though
