What is the best ram to buy for a new pc. I'm getting the x99 sabertooth motherboard with the new broadwell e cpu coming out this may 30th the 6850k to be exact. I have everything picked out except for the ram. I want to get the fastest ram possible but I see as ram frequency goes up so does the cas latency so doesn't that just cancle any improvments on higher frequency? I'm looking for either a kit of 64gb 8x8 or a 32gb 8x4.

any brand works ram is ram is all the same for the most part, and why do you need so much ram for? rendering? because if its for gaming only that is overkill

well then get 64 gb and the highest frequency, even tho that really doesn't make a difference like 1600 vs 1866 isn't a big difference 

your motherboard takes DDR4 doesn't it?

Ok. Just one more question doesn't higher frequency get canceled out by higher cas latency? Or no?

RAM speed dosent matter, get the cheapest ones that is combatible with your system

Any recommendations I was thinking of getting the 64gb lpx ram from corsair at 2400 with a case latency of 14 but is there better. I don't want my ram affecting my components/bottleneck them in the slightest

not worth spending $1000 extra on though

just look at the cheapest ram, then buy the highest frequency within $50 of the price of the cheap ram

Keep in mind that much of the software runs in the processor's on-chip cache rather than main RAM - and the more cache RAM a CPU has, the less difference faster RAM makes. The speed of the RAM affects how fast things are transferred from main RAM to cache RAM mostly.

The i7-6850 info says it has 15Megs of cache RAM, so the speed of the main RAM will mean that much less.
