290x or 780 FTW?

IceTalian

I don't know what to do. It hasn't been 30 days so I can RMA my 780 and get something else for less price but better. I don't know what to do GPU-wise. Keep my 780 for BF4 or RMA for a better card that is equivalent or lesser value?!

If you only play BF4 you might want to get new Radeon instead but if you like PhysX and dont want to hassle RMA-ing, keep the 780.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

Most companies allow only defective products to be returned for an RMA

If you are returning the product to a computer shop simply because you don't like it, there might be a restocking fee of 10-15 percent.

For your $650 card, you will be losing 65-97 dollars.

It's best to keep the 780.

Unless the r9 290x is 2x as fast, it's not worth the hassle.

The 290X would be a better option.

return your 780 and buy the R9. You'll get BF4 free ans its a cheaper card so you'll save a little over $100. Plus the R9 has synthetically performed better than a 780

How can you get the 290x as it hasn't been released yet? And won't be for a month. We have no way to know how it will perform, based only on it's one firestrike benchmark...

All what we can base it off is this ??? benchmark, but whatever it is it's faster than 780 in all 4 situations.

Are these real benchmarks by manufacturers? I'm just asking...

Really? How can you even assume this is a fake benchmark, it looks so legit.  Want me to show you the program it's made on, it's called "Paint". /sarcasm_end.

EDIT: since I sense I have to draw my thoughts pretty much here: I'm not saying the 290x won't be faster than 780, ti most definately will, it's made for that. But you can't get your hands on one now so it's redundant to RMA anything if you can't get the 290x for exchange. Wtf ppl!

Just ignore everything Dravic posts, I've yet to see him post something intelligent on the forums under any circumstances

And as for OP, the 290x is expected to keep up with a Titan and rumors floating around suggest that BF4 is heavily optimized for AMD cards, But you can't really say for sure until the card is actually out or some more benches are out there to have a look at. I'ld keep the 780 if I were you though, the RMA process is a bitch and not worth it unless the card is wildly more powerful than previously suggested

yeah i mean look at the benchmark the part where it says amd gpu something that box is white and a diferent type of letters

As I've said, it will most definately be faster than the 780, probbably faster than titan in 85% of the benchmarks, but it's not out yet and noone can confirm those claims form AMD yet. And noone can have it yet either.

How do you tell what exactly in Firemark did it score? I dont trust slides from AMD presentation, you dont know what the other specs were and whether it was GPU + CPU or just GPU result. Etc.

Until we see REAL benchmark, i dont trust anything.

Ya know, Bulldozer was supposed to kill Sandy Bridge CPUs. We all know that bulldozer CPUs didn't live up to the 'leaks'. LOL.

Nobody's saying 780 is faster or slower than r9 290x until we can perform non-biased benchmarks.

It's not worth the trouble, the performance difference will be so low going from a 780. Just keep the 780, maybe get a second if it's too slow.

If I were i would keep 780 because:

1.The difference will be few FPS

2. Of the hassle that you will get from returning the 780

3. 290X isnt even released yet

4. We dont know anything about 290X performance really...
