Intel i7 5820k vs 6700k

Should I go with an  intel core i7 6700k(4 ghz quad core)or with an older i7 5820k(3,3 ghz 6 cores)?

They cost about the same and are overclockable to up to 4,7 ghz.

Thanks

The 5820k should be considered if you plan on video editing and such. Otherwise, 6700k.

Agreed.  Unless you need the PCI-e lanes or extra CPU cores, there is no reason to go to the x99 platform.

Slightly cheaper than the 5820k on avg. and for gaming you won´t need the extra cores. Very slightly higher IPC as well.

If you're only gaming I'll vouch for the 6600k if you were interested in saving a few bucks. :D

You won't need 6 cores for gaming. IMO you could even go for a 6600k.

I've personally been looking at these two CPUs for my build upgrade. The way I look at it is that I'm going to be doing a lot of programming (Visual Studio, Xamarin etc) and content creation (videos, audio etc) and the 5820K with its 6 Cores and 12 Threads would benefit that most.

The 6700K is just a high end quad core. They both have hyperthreading but if you're not doing anything that takes advantage of that, you're paying for a feature that you won't use. Hyperthreading is reserved for the higher-end CPUs for a reason

Nothing against AMD, it´s literaly just because their FX series is not worth the metal they´re made of right now.

For gaming you are better off getting an I5 and a better GPU

If your not in a rush to get your new computer right away, might be worth waiting out to see what Polaris offers.
