they honestly won't win back the market with APUs. Like they said on the wanshow, it feels like AMD is in that kind of spot where they focus on the low end and gave up on the mid to high end which is really unfortunate (and it seems to be slowly becoming the case for gpus too...).

I see the trend AMD is going for and it isn't all bad. If they can win the market over in mid range and low end, which most people are buying. They could make some serious gains back. Low TDP, low heat output, high overclocks, and low noise would win over the others

But seriously though, I might have been quite young when AMD was the top dog of CPUs but like I still know that AMD was the top dog. It'd be cool to see them do that again. But this time with GPUs and CPUs. Though hopefully the 490 will be at 390X to R9 Fury ranges in terms of performance.

CPU = A10 6800K (@4.3Ghz) / GPU = HD 8670D (@844mhz/ram@1866mhz) - 2016 ≠ Dual Cores - why learn Linux ? - OLD intel x4 cpu (Q6600) + amd HD 7950 - this is what i think on watts x dollar cost - CPU "bottlenecks" only start to show "at the super high end cards" (like the 390) if you have a 4 cores CPU

Am I alone in wondering who buys APUs? They seem to occupy a very small niche of people who need more than very basic on board graphics, but still don't need that much.

 

Maybe crossfired with one of the low end Polaris GPUs it will make sense.

I guess if your looking for a system with a very small footprint to sit on your desk this would probably do the trick. I'd imagine you'd be able to play some fairly modern games at respectable details with this kind of improvements in performance.

If AMD focuses more on the low and mid tier end then I don't see what's causing all the concern (except nvidia doesn't have anyone to battle against them in the high end) but this is where most consumers are buying PC parts so more potential money to be made which will allow them to pay their debts faster and have more money for R&D so in the long run, it could be beneficial for all of us :P

the issue is that you bought a shitty laptop in the first place. No matter whats inside, its still crap.

 

Get a desktop and a tablet or just a larger smartphone.

you do know that Intel CPUs in laptops arent exactly the bees-knees either. Like, not at fucking all.
