We need another company to make GPUs

Darts401

We need another company like nVidia or AMD/ATI (Whatever people like to call them these days) to make a GPU series or just one GPU that is simply amazing to play games, edit video, and do pretty much every PC task with.

Laptop specs:

CPU: Core i7 3630QM

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT630M

RAM: 16gb of unknown origin

Storage: 1tb HDD (probably going to upgrade to an SSD at some point)

Mouse: Corsair M65 Pro RGB

Even a new company would probably do decent, if they did enough research before releasing their first product.

ugh yeah sure, if some Elon Musk just randomly threw millions into the R&D of making GPUs we could have that.

But Intel already has quite a lot of knowledge when you see what their Iris Pro can do for example.

Having a company come out of nowhere and be able to compete with AMD and Nvidia is far-fetched at best. As much as you'd like to think that could happen, it's not going to. My money would be on a company that currently makes chips entering the market, with Intel being the front runner here. A company like Qualcomm could also begin developing dGPU's, but that scenario is less likely.

Intel could be interesting in that way.

They could make GPUs that are optimised for intel core CPU usage.

Also Intel is rich company, so they could acctually make something decent. But since it would be intel, prices would be high xD

I don't think anyone will enter in that GPU battle xD

Intel does seem like a company that probably will be developing dedicated GPUs in the future , who knows we might get a new company, Trump might want to invade the GPU market and start making Dedicated GPUs that cost a small loan of a million dollars.

Well, if you have $10 billion burning a hole in your pocket, set up your own company to build graphics cards. I will wait the 5+ years for your first product.

Samsung should just buy AMD's graphics division. This would pump much needed funds to help with R&D and allow them to compete with Nvidia.

I feel that AMD and Nvidia suck at drivers right no so I would welcome a 3rd company! What about S3 doing a comeback or Intel starting up? ;) (both is unlikely sadly)
