Yoo Song Won

Do you know that 10 PCI slot motherboard Linus was making with the 980tis. Imagine that but with 1080s instead of 980tis!

I can't imagine 10 980ti's. Or 1. Or half of one. Because I don't have it.

Location: Kaunas, Lithuania, Europe, Earth, Solar System, Local Interstellar Cloud, Local Bubble, Gould Belt, Orion Arm, Milky Way, Milky Way subgroup, Local Group, Virgo Supercluster, Laniakea, Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex, Observable universe, Universe.

I believe they are limited to 2way sli, so... folding??

edit: seems to not be true!

Technically, it'd be pretty powerful, but let me know how you'd use them all at once. If you had the ability to put them in SLI, good luck on your scaling and latency.

That was debunked. I can't find the thread though. (Limited to 4 way anyway)

They support up to four-way SLI.

Yes, I heard about this. But lets be honest, Nvidia isn't just gonna keep it that way forever. Someone like LINUS TECH TIPS could make a 10 NVIDIA 1080 SET UP!

yeah, lemme know what use the other 6 are.  even the 4th might not be doing much (if current SLI is anything to go by, things could be changing)

edit: that goes for the 980ti's too ;)

Imagine adding the two new Intel Xeons inside. The two would coast $8400 alone!

I'd rather imagine 10x polaris 11 running in cfx in dx12 for that crazy performance.

Pascal was never really the new card to watch for, the real surprise is gonna be polaris and its performance in dx12.

All pascal brought was a die shrink and minor architecture changes. Still no support for a-synch, still no hbm 2, still no real new technology. Just more performance, and lower tdp like any die shrink will bring.

then I guess you really could make a setup like this and then you could use more than 4 of em... I'm fairly narrow minded apparently

polaris won't bring any crazy performance

Vega however will do that by the end of the year.

Polaris will be for low-medium ranged cards, so non of them will be able to compete with 1070 or 1080 even at stock speeds.

Didn't say it would outperform the 1080/70.

However, you can't deny it will be interesting to see how the die shrink and new architecture affect performance in dx12 and vulkan when there's native hardware support for a-synchronous compute.
