Hi,

I just built my computer and was going to do my first boot, i started it up and connected the monitor, all the fans worked but my monitor said no signal. I tried with 1 ram stick, switched the ram around and checked all cables. Someone please help.

Thanks.

try with integrated graphics just to make sure the monitor isn't dead. try another cable even if you tried the first time with DVI try a second time with HDMI

as recently as 2 weeks ago I built a system with 2 video cards for a friend. I ran both sets of PCI power cables but left 1 unplugged from the PSU for some reason. didn't realize I had plugged the 1 installed card into the cable that was disconnected from the PSU. Took me an embarrassing 10 min to troubleshoot that.

moral of the story is make absolutely sure all cables are connected. Don't forget the 4/8pin CPU connector.

I first tried without the gpu installed then i installed it thinking it would help, I will try with hdmi now. Is it possible I have missed some cables that need to be plugged in, I am a beginner so I dont know what im doing. I havent put in the hd audio yet either.

no worries.

24pin motherboard

4/8Pin CPU connector

these 2 connectors should get a post if you are using the integrated graphics

appropriate GPU connectors should get it to post with the GPU connected

also don't forget the SATA power but that's only necessary to get the OS installed and running.

Usually motherboards recognize cards on first boot but sometimes you get the weird ones that require you to set PCI graphics as the main display adapter.

I'd also recommend building outside of the case to make sure your hardware works before spending a ton of time on cable management. This also allows you to easily visualize what cables you have plugged in and if you're missing something.
