The reason why I'm asking is because I've seen reviews complain about the Acer's build quality and overheating. I haven't seen any reviews of the ASUS so I thought I'd ask you guys.

P.S. I am aware it says "Phased out", I'm going to buy it from a different seller.

I've never had an issue with Asus products.
They are one of my favorite brands.
The specs are about the same so I'd get the Asus.

Personally neither. I'd only ever get Acer monitors and even then I would much rather prefer a sleek and  professional looking Dell or LG monitor over them. If you can get a warranty from that store, that can outlast Asus's warranty, go ahead. ASUS has some of the worst customer support and I still have yet to RMA my 750Ti because I do not want to deal with their bullshit.

The Acer laptop has the same build quality as a cheap chinese copy toy, and the cooling is also well not good. The Asus one is better build, has a little better cooling, but Asus support are stupid and should just go back to school. So for me the Asus would be the winner, not that it is a laptop I would buy over a used t440s...

copy/paste from other post asking if he should get a acer notebook:

As somebody who owns 2 Acer laptops himself, one from 2005~ and one from 2014 I just cant get myself to recommend anybody to buy from acer anymore and here is why:

The first one, from 2005, had its charger broken after 2 or so years, so it needed to be replaced, apart of that it still works as of today and is still in use by my parents, who would be.. well hardcore computer noobs, who do for example think its bad if the laptop gets louder, while having it sitting on the lap, w/o anything below it.

So all in all, that sounds quite good.

The other one from 2014 however, which I only got because it was literatly a steal for the price I paid for it at the time (and yes it was new - bought it at a major electronic store), had to be send in 3, yes three, weeks to an Acer repair-facility not even 6 hours away just to replace the battery that broke after 10months to a degree that the computer would just freeze randomly, even at booting up & while having power plugged in.

So while it was there, next to replacing the battery they also reformated windows, without even informing or asking me about it... which honestly is just unacceptable. I did not loose any data or anything, because I backed everything up before sending it in but still, the average customer would not do that.

When I got the laptop back, I got it with an battery which had 51.525mWh capacity instead of the 53.400mWh its supposed to have, though its only a 3% margain it most certainly has seen a fair share of usage to loose this high amount of cells.

Next to that, the notebook had a USB-Port plastic-part fall out(picture at the bottom) and as I allready had to send it in for the battery, I also asked them to fix or replace the port, to which they said, they could do it, however it would cost me 1.300€~ (the laptop was 780€ at the store) and that this does not fall under warranty because its a "mechanical error". While I understand that replacing it would be somewhat retarded, as the port is directly soldert onto the motherboard and essentialy they would need to disassembly the entire laptop for it, apart of screen & keyboard, its still just another point towards f* you customer.

heres the picture from the usb port:

1mY9Ccu.jpg

As to see that little black, I assume plastik?, part is missing and the pins are now in the open. Port works and everything but hell, I have seen PC's with unisolated cables hotglued somewhere, coffe and such spilled inside of them and never cleaned out, laptops where the keyboard & screen was so filfy & sticky that you would not touch it w/o gloves, even computers that are easily 10+ years old from call-center offices and much more... but never did I hear nor have I seen that this plastic part from a USB port has gone missing, until I got myself a second acer notebook.

And now to put the crown on the stupid level, I called the support from acer, asking if I can dissamble the notebook myself because of the freezes it had and see if I can figure it out, they connected me to a technician w/o additional charge who also gave me some ideas to try and he told me: "yes, I can open it up, but once I change something, like unscrew the HDD or anything equal, it would void the warranty". While I did unscrew it and checked, just to find myself having no idea what could be wrong and it not being a problem later on either I just have to wonder why after having the notebook returned to me, it now has a nice sticker at the bottom, over a screwhole, saying "warranty void if removed". So once again, what the f*?

So again, from my experiance, if it comes to pre-build PC's, stay away from acer, they might be cheaper and offer slightly better hardware, but that more than obviously comes with a dissapointing product quality and even more dissapointing support.

@Nord or quote me if you want me to reply back. I don't necessarily check back or subscribe to every topic.
