Should i get a 4K monitor? Was looking at this one "iiyama GB2888UHSU, G-MASTER"

Since i was considering adding another fury x for crossfire and 4K.

Should i go for it?

Or wait until new gen monitors come out? ( DP1.4)

Currently stuck with 1080P 144hz screen.

Im also waiting until vega for gpu replacement.

I had 28" 4k, and now I am at 29" 2560x1080.

I really don't miss it for gaming.

For desktop use? Well that is different as programs can really benefit from the extra real estate.

I would say the 'wow-effect' is much bigger when getting a 34" 3440x1440 display opposed to a 4k monitor, heck even my small new 29" gets me more immersed in games than my 28" 4k did. But, as I sad before, this is subjective.

The problem for me is that I do see the higher pixel density, but only when looking for it. After 5 minutes I forget and could well be playing on a MUCH lower res than 4k and not care, because I pay much more attention to the game.

I'm using a 4K monitor, and I love if for watching videos and playing games on, but like mapegl said, after a while, you stop noticing the '4Kness' of the monitor and get involved in what you're doing until something that actually uses the 4K monitor pops around (a video clip or cutscene) and it makes you happy you have a 4K monitor.  Having all this space to work is a major benefit, but it can be disconcerting for MS Word where you have to blow the document right up to be able to use it.

All in all:

Video watching, it's amazing

Gaming, you need a good graphics card, but not too many games make good use of 4K (some games texture packs still look crap on my old 1080p monitor)

Working, paint, photo editors, video editors and others have SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES but work processing can feel wierd when so zoomed in.
