GPU location on Mobo poll

I have a z97-ar and a msi 970 100me. I just want your opinion on which PCIe 3.0 16x slot I should put my GPU. Top or middle (both are 3.0 16x)?

Why? It just looks better as it's closer to the cooler, but that's it. It wouldn't matter if you drop it down in terms of performance if you are worried in that regard.

+1, it does look better...maybe if you had a humongous air cooler where the GPU doesn't fit the first slot then maybe it would look better in the second slot (and you have to put it there anyway )

Hmm something I just noticed now, it will hide the Asus circle if it's a top, but that depends on what the op feels about it.

Just seeing what the community thinks. I think it looks better closer to the cooler, but I also like the Asus logo.

I'd say top first but then again you could go with the bottom slot just to show off your components brands. If your case doesn't have a window then just put it in a slot and close it up because no one will see it. If so, I'd say bottom but it really doesn't matter at all.

Yeah, I don't have a window, but in a few months i am getting the S340

Then just place it in the top slot for now and call it a day and when the day comes with your new case, you can make a new thread and ask us again
