So I have a pair of Asus Strix headphones, which are actually my second such pair that have failed.

My first pair had one of the earpieces snap off in the first week of use so was replaced, now the second pair has had one earphone fail after 11 months use.

So I didnt want to bother RMAing them and thought I'd rather buy a new pair of something else, and ordered a Kingston Hyper X Cloud Core.

I got another faulty pair on arrival with no bass output at all, and no sound effects in any games.

Now I have to send the Kingstons back, but I emailed Amazon where I had bought them all from and they said they'll just send me out a replacement Asus Strix pair with no charge.

Yay Amazon. But why do I keep getting crappy headphone?

Linus is my fetish.

Well reviews would disagree with you.

The sound quality on the Asus Strix ones is great, and the earcuff size makes them super comfy to wear ... They just keep on breaking.

The people who give them good reviews are people who has not tried good headphones and only uses headsets.

I meant reviews from hardware websites not users.

I dont even know what would be better. I have a 600 ohm amp on my headphone port on my current mobo, but I already had the asus set, and a free replacement for now will do.

I could buy a new decent pair to go with my amped output though, any advice as to what I should look into for that?

If you can use open headphones, I would look at open headphones, but I will need a budget if you want suggestions

I know that the Creative Aurvana Live! are pretty good, I have yet to try the Creative Aurvana Live!2.

I know the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro is also a good option
