Okay so I'm currently picking parts for a performance PC on a budget. I'm going with the Intel 6700K and decided to go with the Gigabyte Z170 model of motherboards. Problem is there are a BUNCH of sub models with price differences (some don't even appear on PC part picker). Here are some of them: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 TH, Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5, Gigabyte GA-Z170X-GAMING 5, Gigabyte GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5. Which one is better?? And which one has the best price to performance??

motherboards dont really "perform"

motherboards have features you may or may not use.

so, a $500 motherboard may have more features than a $100 motherboard, but if you dont use those they are wasted money.

it comes down to what you need.

True. But what I mean with performance is a reliable motherboard that's compatible with SLI, thunderbolt/USB type C, overclocking, a decent audio solution if possible, ac WIFI too. Those are some of the main features I'm looking for.

then select a mobo with those features, and beyond that fits the style you're going for.

I have the Gigabyte GA-Z170X Gaming 5

Only difference between the X and MX is the MX is a mATX board where the X is a full ATX board

I couldn't be happier with my choice, seeing as all the Asus boards i looked at had poor reviews, and well MSI's customer service is lolworthy
