Sorry didn't know where to post this

I am thinking of making a portable console like emulater machine using a few raspberry pi 3's but first I need to know a few things

what emulators can the pi 3 run with out major unplayable lag

is there a way to make one power supply power more then 1 pi? (Like 4 or 5)

what at I was thinking was 3D printing a case that could hold how ever many pi's I need (there is a reason I'm not putting all the emulators on the same pi) hook it all up by one PSU and then I just power on whatever pi I want because each will have its own emulator on it. And allow for multiple people to play different emulates at the same time (yes on different tv's)

SNIP

It can emulate pretty much anything upto (and including) the PS1 (and maybe Dreamcast but not perfectly)

You might want to look at the pi mames and pi play systems for ideas on what the pis can do. They only use 5 volts at like 2 amps so you can power many from any power strip or ups and its a micro usb port so if you want you can technically power it from a usb-usb connection. They have corner holes to screw them into a case, I wouldn't stack them for heat reasons but since the only I/Os you'll need are on 2 perpendicular sides you could put 4 in a rectangular case.

The pi 3 or 3 should run these at a playable level

as for emulators, my pi2 that is the world's worst overclocker, can run all emulators i've tried, except for nintendo 64, that one chugs notably. (take that as a mark in time where you shouldnt try anything newer)

as for one power supply running multiple pi's, i wouldnt see why not, just get a plenty high power power supply.

if you're running off of usb charger bricks i recommend using a powered usb hub for the peripherals, so the pi itself can get all the power it could possibly want.

(PS: cut the +5v wire in the usb cable between the pi and the powered hub to avoid oddities, in fact that shouldnt even be connected in the first place, but the manufacturers havent really figured that one out)

as for the power supply... either get a pc power supply, even fishing up an ancient AT power supply (not ATX) would be a really good bet.

or, you could get a very high wattage usb charger brick, i recently noticed ikea has some very good ones available:

theres also more powerful ones, some brands go up to something insane like 72 watts :P

You'd only need 1 for the emulators man

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

but he want no lag.

Mostly I think it was different emulators for different people, which why would one need all that in a single package...

I was thinking making a case that has 2 or 3 levels and making 4-6 pi's on 1 level and adding some vents and small like 80mm fans for air flow. That way we can maybe have 2 of each system being emulated. So now when I have gaming party's with friends they won't need to lug there systems around because I don't own any old systems, my bother has them all xD and I figured this would be easier then jut buying a lot of systems and games
