AMD has DP 1.3, which supports  4K with 120Hz, so of course DP1.4 will handle it, but asus might want to sell more of the already existing ones first

High refreshrate displays are almost all TN panels. Slowly people are starting to buy more and more 4k and 1440p displays but most people are still using 1080p monitors. Also, not that many people have high refresh rate monitors or the hardware to drive that, let alone 4k 120Hz.

For 4k 120Hz panels to appear at all on the consumer market I think we'll be quite a bit further in time but for 4k 120Hz IPS? I don't think you'll be able to buy one before 2020 if at all.
