Hi guys, I'm new in this community and yeah, I'm thinking of upgrading my rig.

These are the things that I think I should buy.

Processor:

Intel Core i5 6600K Processor

Power supply:

Corsair CP-9020061-UK Builder Series CXM750W Modular 80 Plus Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU

GPU:

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW+ ACX 2.0+ Graphics Card ,4 GB, GDDR5, PCI Express 3.0, HDMI, DVI-I, DVI-D, Display Port, 256-Bit

RAM:

HyperX Fury 16 GB (2x 8 GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Blue

Motherboard:

Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard (4x DDR3, 4x USB3.0, 10x USB2.0, GBE, LAN, HDMI)

Case:

Thermaltake Versa H13 M-ATX Gaming Case with Side Window USB 3 and Black Interior

My questions stand,

1. Is this a good upgrade?

2. If it is a good upgrade, how much time would I have until I'll have to upgrade again?

3. If it's not a good upgrade, what would you change and why?

BUDGET:    £800

GOAL:    A PRETTY GOOD GAMING RIG

Cheers for the help! :)

I'm assuming this is a brand new build, I'd suggest that you change the GTX 970 (Cliche) to an R9 390 because the R9 390 has 8GB of Vram and performs better in some games, and I'd also suggest changing that PSU. Please.

Well, I bought one of those PCs you find in shops like Currys with like £600.

3.5 GHz AMD cpu with an integrated video card

1TB of storage.

That's pretty much it.

alright, well your build looks good, if you want more preformance go for a r9 390

prefreably brands like Sapphire (best) MSI, XFX, and powercolor as the leaste

Isn't the CPU LGA1151 and the motherboard socket 1150? Those aren't compatible I don' think.

You will need a Z170 board for the new skylake processor. It is a different socket than the haswell processors (Z97). This system will easily run 1080p at a very stable 60fps if thats what monitor you have. This could easily push into the low hundreds in fps at 1080p I think or you could move up to 1440p as well. Both are viable options with this setup.

So I was right, You're going to need either a Z170 motherboard or a socket 1150 processor they're not inter-operable .
