GTAV Stutter with R9 380

MattCaruana

I have an r9 380 with an i7 6700 and lately i have been playing gtav with everything high and advanced graphics all off and have high stutteting issues. I went on youtube for some gameplay and found a vid with the same gpu and better graphical settings while getting no stutter at all. I would like to know what the problem is, btw i have the latest graphic drivers. Thanks in advance :)

This is the video i was talking about

Use msi afterburner's on-screen display to check the amount of system ram and vram used.

During gameplay, check your hdd usage in task manager. If its constantly at or very near 100%, it could be causing the stutters.

I would highly recommend putting GTA V on an SSD. I know it takes a lot of space up, but it is one of those games that can and will take advantage of it's speed.

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Lots of people reporting stutter issues with it this week - there was a 970 user earlier today - I accused the VRAM, guess it's the game. Maybe I should apologize to the guy.

I use a 1TB WD Green HDD and don't have stuttering issues with GTA V.  I doubt it's the HDD.

I solved the problem by turning down the textures to normal and all other settings to very high, its constant 70-80fps now
