What good games, that you have played that you thought could have been truly amazing with a little more work?

 

Mafia 2 - great story, solid gameplay, amazing city, but the game gives you no reason to explore the city outside the missions...the game needed more side missions, more collectables to make it a true classic.

Let's see.
Spec ops- The line. Felt that the gameplay needed a bit more polish
Call of Duty: Ghosts. I like it, but it could have been so much more
Aliens vs Predator 2010: Again, could have been so much more
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoing. The animations  and expressions on the NPC's faces still haunt me.

I have a Fury Nitro and an FX 8320E. Screw my life?

lords of the fallen. pretty much a dark souls copy but the world was pretty interesting. it's a shame that it's marred by bugs and performance issues

Star Trek Online - Looked absolutely beautiful, space combat mechanics were superb, but "away team missions" that fell back into the same old MMO pitfalls killed it. I understand when I shoot fire at a bunch of murlocs on one side of a room in WoW, the murlocs on the other side might not be bright enough to see what's going on, but you want me to believe that the group of Klingons on the other side of the room didn't notice me throwing a plasma grenade and "phasers on kill"ing their buddy?

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Not many people have heard of it I think.

Hawken. An amazing mech fighting game that was well balanced with VR support coming, then the lead developer got hit by a bus and died and the whole project fell apart and they sold it to another company.

elsword when it started out the pvp was really fun but nowadays its pay to win and before if you didnt mana brake you are screwed but they made it a lot more forgiving and easier to fall down

Titanfall.  Left me wanting so much more, I can't wait for more details to emerge for the sequel.  I'm hoping they address the lack of content in the first.

 

And don't split up the userbase with paid maps.

Spore, not sure if anyone remembers this one, but it was a game where you could evolve a lifeform from a cell to a creature, tribe, civilization, then galactic empire. It had some really cool features, and overall I did enjoy the level of freedom and creativity it allowed, but it seems the developers bit off more than they could chew. It was like making 5 games in 1, and unfortunately each of the 5 parts felt somewhat lacking.

Here's an older one: Star Wars Republic Commando. Good game play, but it was a bit short and could have been even better with coop. It just begs for 4 player coop.

Borderlands pre sequel

Cant really out my finger on it,  but it could have been better. Pacing? Lasers didnt really add anything to the game. Ice weapons didnt add any new dynamic. Gravity stomp was a gimmick i never used. The pseudo crafting was useless too.
