Any way to gain more fps in GTAV without upgrading hardware?

I have a R9 380 4gb paired with a athlon 860k clocked at 4Ghz with a rajintek themis cooler. Is there any way possible to increase fps without upgrading this hardware?

OC your GPU and CPU a tad more (as long as they have appropriate cooling),

Turn down settings in-game

Go into fullscreen mode if you're in windowed or borderless windowed...

Oh rip...no VRM cooling on motherboard...maybe leave the CPU OC out...

 

What clocks are you currently running at with the 380?

How I overclock my GPUs is to have power limit at max and core voltage (msi afterburner) then increase the speeds by 25Mhz until I find the final stable clock speed (obviously with at lease 1 hour of stressing every time it goes up) and when it becomes unstable, I would just go back to the last stable speed, do a longer stress test and then start decreasing the power limit and core voltage till it's unstable and then go to the last stable power options and do a 24 hour test from there.

For my cpu it is just 4Ghz constant since I disabled turbo

Yeah I overclocked it and got the gpu clock to like 1265 and no difference was noticeable, Guess its just time to get a new cpu

you could DIY a VRM heatsink

 

Maybe you can reach speeds higher than 4GHz without increasing voltage. It might not be a problem since increasing voltage will increase power draw much more so than increasing speed.

You could wait for the new release if your budget is tight since the skylake cpus will require a new mobo and new RAM.

I was able to OC my cpu to 4.4 GhZ (thats as far as i felt safe) and it worked by my idle temps were like 40/50 away from the thermal margin

Overclocking will have very small impact on performance. So your best option without upgrading is to lower settings.

 

Check out LowSpecGamer on youtube. He creates videos on lowering graphics setting on games to get the best performance on low end PCs. He has lots of cool trick that you might want to check out.

 

He has two videos on GTA V. Second one is with performance mods.

the Themis is a capable cooler though. But I feel you. 4.4 is just 10% more and it might not be worth it.
