Wow I have seen HTC VIVE selling for 1000.00 on craigslist and ebay now. The content is garbage. I have spent the last 6+ hours looking at the launch lineup. see video (1-5)

There are over 4 archery/ angry birds games alone. Wow they have an "air control game" (see app store). This platform is overpriced and underdeveloped. Games that are clearly dumb down copies of wii and mobile apps selling for 30-40+ dollars a piece. I really wish that this platform had a clear path, unfortunately there is no real reason for consumers to purchase this overpriced product.  I understand The immersion and novelty aspect of this gaming unit; however I could get that in a REAL sense from scuba, skydiving, or paintball for much less with about the same reply ability. I just see this platform getting so diluted with the PS4 VR sprouting up with  incapable overpriced rendition. I feel like this is going to be a over hyped money grab from companies without ideas; just another nvidia 3d vision, wii motion contol, XBOX ONE voice controll or Spiderman/ Xmen/ Hulk reboot. I hope i'm wrong! Can people name a good reason to get VR? Thanks as always!

These games look like Virtual Reality adaptations to the original games when the wii came out. I'll probably get a VR headset when there are more things out than just these games.

It's not surprising, everyone is freaking the hell out about this stuff, so EVERY person that's halfway adept at creating a game is going to try and get a piece of all the money being thrown around by idiots that didn't research first lol.

Wow, someone with a 10,000 ft ceiling, a pond and a field all in his living room.

Seriously though it is early days.  The POTENTIAL for all the great immersive experiences that have been touted is there, we just have to wait on software/games catching up.

It would be real real and not end up in a closet because it feels fake. One could also do all those activities for less than the startup cost

Ask anyone good games take 3-5 years to develop

Fair enough.

I blame the hype for most thinking "oh as soon as the vive/rift/etc come out all  computer games will be totally immersive" when a moments thought would say look at "pong" etc they did not look at all like "the real thing" but were touted as being so.

ish.

One could posit that you would need to buy a plane and a rig and pay someone to pilot the plane,to go skydiving .  You would need to buy SCUBA kit and a wetsuit (unless you were prepared to fly abroad every time you fancied a dive.  You would need to buy a field and the gun (and kit) to go paintballing.

Whilst a vive/rift and rig to run it would be (say) £1750

Reselling something at a higher price is illegal. It's illegal for concert tickets, and it's illegal here.

It is 100% NOT illegal

And ticket reselling is not illegal most of the time either

Eg in England only football tickets are illegal and some online companies have permission to resell them otherwise anybody can buy and sell tickets

free enterprise is illigal ? o-O thats knew for me ...

And by the way even to sell tickets isn't illegal in some countries even if the distributer write something like it is in their general terms at least you do it as a "privat person" and even if you sell it over price (at least this count for germany)

The problem is the term "privat person" this make it to something called a  "gray zone" since the point where you come from a privat reseller to a commercial isn't completely formulated at this point.

But least a distributer can (and will) anytime (if they write it in their general terms that they can do it if you infrige their terms ) ban you without a reason from this or future events and places.

So it's more a not allowed than illegal act to sell concert ticket for example most of the time

There's a few games that do not look like they were made for Wii or Mobile... Like Eve Valkyrie, or other games where VR was added afterward, like Elite Dangerous.

But yes, most of the "launch titles" are mainly VR tech demos at this point. If you want some great looking games, you're probably gonna have to wait a while. (for the games to be made and for the PC hardware to actually keep up...)

Reselling is allowed. Buying bulk and reselling it at a noticeable markup on MRSP isn't allowed, atleast not to the original vendor or reseller. Next to being an incredibly shitty thing to do.

I thought it was illegal because there was a lot of police involved regarding this lately. But here in NL they're currently trying to pass a law for it.

If your looking for a good reason to get VR now, then I would say there probably isn't one. Its such a new platform that there are very few bugs, and the next gen VR after a year or two will be much better after early adapters give feedback. Game support is also going to start out small, but will grow as developers experiment with whats possible. One thing that I will point out, the total immersion gives new life to games. Having watched a few youtubers play VR games, even though the game doesn't look that great from youtube, you can tell from the excitement in their voice that the game is actually really fun to play. Much of what is out now is demos by the way, most of the games will get new content.

It should be. It creates shortage and overpricing with no added benefit for the customers. The extra revenue is not being infused back into the market, it's pure greed.
