Is there a big difference between these two cards?

Go to solution Solved by ChrisCross,

depends on your budget. you can never go wrong with an i5 6500

Hey guys,

I'm planning a red and white build. I'm looking at two cards, but not sure what the difference is in performance. Any chance you could give me a hand? It between the 970 turbo and the 960 turbo. If it is better could I buy one 960 and then buy another one down the line?

Can't tell you exact figures but the performance difference is pretty big.

I don't recommend SLI'ing GTX 960s due to issues with SLI (microstuttering, improper utilisation) and the fact that one stronger card is always the better choice than two weaker ones.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Spoiler

Honestly, the performance difference between the Turbo 970 and any other 970 is big as well - this one runs absurdly hot - talking over 100*C on the VRMs and near 85*C on the core

the 970 is way faster. but i wouldnt buy one of them. they have coolers designed for server use. they are terrible in a normal desktop computer.

also the amd 390 is faster than the 970:

Both are terrible - you'd be better off getting the Sapphire 390 Nitro or 380X Nitro and painting the shroud
