So I went to my grandma's house for a couple of days and took my desktop with me, when I got their my computer worked just fine but when I got back, I turned on my PC back on from hibernation and my MSI after burner couldn't read my MSI GTX 980 and the numbers were all super high so I restarted the PC and the same thing happened, the same thing, my computer couldn't read my graphics card, it said Unknown Card. I decided to run CSGO and some weird red patterns on a black screen that appeared, I backed out then got back in and the menu was there so I joined a community server and the game loaded, I heard the faint coil whine from my GTX 980 and was receiving around 295 frames (I think the cap was on 300) so I knew the graphics card was running but only one fan was running, I unplugged the PC, removed the graphics card out of the PCI slot, and moved it to a different one, then started back the computer, I received the video single from the VGA slot from the graphics card and saw the two fans running for a couple of seconds but then they stopped but windows wasn't loading at all, I restarted multiple times and nothing but it did load up the automatic repair but It couldn't resolve anything. What should I do now? P.S my graphics was Overclocked and the voltage was on 87 but it was mostly stable, maybe a crash there or two.

did you unplug it while transportation? gpu coolers are heavy and can damage pcie slots when transporting without proper support

the best way to transport your pc is to remove the gpu, place it back in the anti-static bag and box it came with and travel

heavy heatsink CPU coolers require the same procedure too

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Unfortunately no to both but the computer was laying on it's back with the cpu cooler facing up and the graphics card's side facing up as well.

vibration is bad either way, is it possible for you to test it in another pc?

Yeah but after I moved it to a different slot, windows got stuck at the loading screen and the loading icon gets frozen. I went to my bios and checked if my graphics is plugged in and it Is.

You likely damaged the GPU. If you can get a hold of another card to test I would try that. You can also try DDU and fresh install on your drivers just to be sure it's not software related. Always unplug your GPU when moving your system.

You should really see if any friends/family have a computer you can test the graphics card on.

Intel Core i7 7770K | 32 GB's Ram 3000MHz | GTX 1080 Ti | 250GB SSD | 3TB 7400 RPM | Sound Blaster Z | ASUS ROG MG278Q | Razer Blackwidow Chroma | Final Mouse 2015 | Blue Yeti | Seinheiser HD 600's | Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro | Aune T1 MK2

That's what I was thinking, I'll do it in few, I can't at the moment but if nothing doesn't work should I try a RMA for my 980 from MSI?

i cant determine whether its the motherboard or the gpu tbh

do you have any other devices to try out the pcie? 16x preferably

Or taking to a repair shop?

well sure, thats the fastest way to test

but some repair shops are unreliable... and charge you a ton for doing nothing

I don't, that's why I mentioned a repair shop because they would have other computers to test the graphics card but I don't know any that would be trust worthy.
